0820-24 visit to Seattle (post separately as a trip report) * work on schedule, agenda, packing list, prep for Seattle (0807) prep: x key in changes and print songbook x insert chords, tweak lyrics for Cutty Wren ~ git presentation -> s.s.net/Doc/Linux * Fly Thursday 8/20, Monday 8/24; ~ rent car * copy of DH (97G) and /mm/audio (62G). Will just fit in 160. probably best to just put it all on the mac x make damned sure Colleen has mail, skype/ekiga and IM running. (0808) buy: * 4 bags of coffee - Callie and Kat * 6 x Block Polly-O (string has a new formula :P ) stupidly left at home * universal laptop power brick for YD but it didn't work x phone card: $25 for Kat's go-phone pack: ~ Cindy and a large suitcase of Kat stuff. * Badass coffee mug x HD for Kat's external box. ~ The ATA 500 out of Nova would be best, but it's not free yet. * Callie's recorder (Howard will get it to me) * Zoom and tripod * Dell power cord+brick (from Emmy's machine -- it's actually N's) ~ Caregiver Helpbook, What Color Is Your Parachute for Callie Agenda: * TGl, of course. x geekery: pp.net, git, dh, ... * take Kat and Led out to dinner. x A. is free the 21st and 23rd; 22nd is her birthday party Notes: = Next time make sure "buy" items get copied to "pack" after purchase = the little stuffbags from OSCon are really hard to get out from under an airplane seat -- need a better supplemental carry-on bag. = the best-laid plans...
You're probably not going to be all that interested in what plans I made for last weekend's trip to Seattle, my shopping list, and so on. I'll just summarize my notes:
Next time make sure "buy" items get copied to the "pack" list after they're purchased. This will prevent disasters like a half-dozen blocks of mozzerella being left behind in the fridge.
The little stuffbags I got at OSCon, about half a grocery bag's worth, are really hard to get out from under an airplane seat. If I'm going to play that game again I need something more like a stuffable dufflebag. I think I have one somewhere.
Four days -- more like three and a quarter, actually -- are nowhere near enough for a proper visit, especially with all I wanted to cram into it. Needs more like a month.
The best-laid plans...
Nevertheless, it was a wonderful trip, both relaxing and productive. I love my friends, and my Wolfling. I miss them already.
