I slept very well the first night back from ConChord -- my own bed? good pillows? total exhaustion? the glass of gin? Who knows? I'll take it.

I bought a nice, handmade 10" djembe at Guitar Showcase's consignment shop after my therapy appointment. Heavier than the dumbek, but sounds better. Only $75.

I was moderately productive, although work was more than a little frustrating. Git doesn't do too well in a machine with limited memory, it turns out.

Sent in my membership for OVFF.

I found myself walking rather slowly and awkwardly, almost as if I had back pain. I didn't feel any, but took it easy anyway.

I was having some kind of weird communication problem with the YD; everything I said seemed to upset her, and she flew into a tizzy when I tried, several times, to explain something she'd misunderstood in a recipe. It was confusing -- I'm not surprised she didn't get it; it took me a couple of readings. But why flap her arms and yell? She said "you wouldn't understand" when I asked her to explain. Teenager?

It took me a long time to fall asleep, as usual.

Speaking as a former female adolescent: sounds like teenaged hormones to me. It's not you.

Handmade djembes are sweeet! I picked one up at the local farmer's market, for real. Nice man from Cote d'Ivoire with a bunch of various imported artsy things. Well I had to try the drum and next thing I knew, I was taking it home. :;sheepish grin::

That does sound like a typical teenage reaction. It might be that she is certain that you wouldn't understand because SHE doesn't understand, but that can be a terrible thing to admit.

I was like that too, remember? Didn't try burning the house down with a paper towel though.

Bagel. Yep. But, if you need to talk to another adult, I'm here.

chocolate and alcohol... chocolate for the YD and alcohol for the Father.
It does work sometimes. Specially when YD is that time of the month. Father when he has a bad day ... giggle. Our household is acting this way right now.

Alcohol:

Glass of Gin, up and with a twist. Chocolate: I don't know if she needs it. I can't recall how many pounds she has to lose.

So she's a teenager, has been a bit spoiled, and now has to start carrying her weight. She'll either get it, or be a perpetual adolescent. Typical for her age group these days, though.

IMO, I was past that stage at her age, but I grew up faster than most of my peers.

I'll figure she's an adult when I stop wanting slap her silly. I know some females that it took until they were 25 or more.
