NMR CAT scan

OK, they call it MRI these days. Foo. It ought to be Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Computer Aided Tomography, thank you very much. Anyway, they're going to scan my head two weeks from Friday. Bunch of preliminary questions about whether I had any metal embedded in my body. Fillings and gold crowns apparently don't cause problems.

But, aaaaaaa, nuclear! That's scary and freaky! It could make you into a mutant or something!

What I don't understand is why they didn't have to rename PET scans at the same time. Surely antimatter is far scarier.

Because the acronym is so warm and fuzzy and, um, petable. And because nobody knows what a positron is anyway.
