A busy day, and a good one. I had a gorgeous full-arch rainbow in front of me on the way to work, from Page Mill to the exit at Sand Hill. On the last hill, there was actually a full secondary arch as well, and a couple of spots where the rainbow came down all the way to the hood of my car. I'm fully aware of the fact that it's not a "sign" of anything but raindrops and sunlight, but if the sight makes me feel hopeful, I'm not going to argue.

My walk, in one of the day's rare intervals between rainstorms, took me 5 times around the pond and brought my step count to 10179 for the day. Go me!! And my weight was down to 196.8; mostly a matter of not snacking, I think. Especially candy from the basket at work. (It was up to 198.6 this morning, but that's still lower than it's been in a month, and I expect a pound or so of variation from day to day.)

The day was punctuated with a couple of lovely peals of thunder. Whee!

Around 4:30 I finally made it into the fitness center -- for about 10 seconds. Nobody seemed to notice me, and I got a phone call just as I was going in the door, but that's further than I've ever gotten to a fitness center in 30-odd years. If the weather stays rainy, I might get even farther.

Hot links under the cut, as usual. A good interview with Janis Ian would be my pick for the day, if you just want one.

Excellent!

Rainbows! Rainbows!

I love rainbows.

One of the reasons I love living in Oregon. We get LOTS of rainbows. Often full arch, almost as often doubles. It always lifts my heart. I suspect that lifted-heart feeling is where the idea that a rainbow is a sign of something comes from....and who knows? perhaps our instincts know something we do not know in our heads.

Enjoy!

Beautiful rainbows and overcoming long-standing inhibitions all in one day. Sounds good to me.

Eliminating inhibitions takes more than one success. But if you got past it once, you can get past it again. And every time, you get stronger relative to it.
