0529 Baycon * up 7:05; drugs, nose; shower; drive home with laundry @ Janet Reid, Literary Agent - Why Small Publishing Will Save the World (via yesbetwordsmith) & Turned off the computer in the upstairs hallway. Noisy, power-wasting, and it's not used much. Need to persuade YD to keep it mostly off. * GOH interview with Michael Siladi * Recording panel with Jeff Bohnhoff. Went well : Continuous confusion over when the concert would be. Eventually 5. No idea what the problem really was. & Some practice with Kat; decided to go solo because we were constantly getting out of sync, and I didn't want to risk getting confused. She was upset, but it was a good call. * Concert. Went really well. Kat sold 3 CDs slightly frazzled, though, and forgot to turn on my recorder. Dumb bear. * setlist ~ dream qv riverheart world inherit tool(Kat) wheelin river ~ ship mil-dawn? rosie 2-bears ?paper ?demon(marty) ?cicero ?stuff final: world inherit dream rosie ship 2bears riverheart wheelin river qv * Very frazzled; couldn't find my shoulder bag after dinner; yelled at Colleen after she said "it's alright". Went down to restaurant. Put YD back together. Bag had been on my suitcase the whole time. Forgot music stand and songbook going down to filking, and was half an hour late to the computer theme circle. Sent Kat up for missing items. : There were two false fire alarms over the course of the evening. Fortunately before we went to bed. * Headed up for bed ~12:30 : no wired ethernet connectivity. WTF?
Despite ongoing confusion about scheduling, my concert went really well (at the origninally-scheduled 5pm). I came down at about 4:30 after a practice session with Kat that went badly enough -- we kept getting out of sync -- that I decided to go solo. The Wolfling was disappointed, but I think it was the right call. A couple of very minor glitches, but on the whole it was one of my better concerts. I think I surprised a few people. I set the Wolfie up as my cashier; she sold a couple of CDs and the one pre-order set I had left. It's been a pretty good weekend for sales.
Of course, after carefully replacing the batteries in my recorder and
setting it up, I forgot to turn it on. Fortunately hvideo
got video, so there will be audio posted.
The computer theme circle went less well -- I arrived half an hour late, minus my filk book, due to having misplaced my shoulder bag. After dashing back down to the restaurant, soothing a distraught YD (who'd been lied to about something bad happening to Colleen -- WTF?), and coming back to the room to find the bag still on my suitcase where I'd put it. Not to mention the two fire alarms during the circle?
And there was no ethernet connectivity in the room when we went up to crash. I blamed it on the fire alarms and things being improperly shut down, but it was still flaky this morning.
