A good day, mostly spent being lazy relaxing, with a pleasant mostly-for-wine shopping trip with Colleen, because we were out of both cheap red and drinkable white wines.

The young lady who rang up my purchase at Barefoot addressed me as "Mr. Savitzky" as I came up to the counter; it felt rather odd, but nice. It turns out that she'd once taken a class with Chaos at DeAnza. N. wondered why I found it odd, but in fact strangers remembering my last name and pronouncing it correctly is extremely rare.

There's not much to say about a day like that, is there?

The best of the day's links, from my rather biased perspective, is a comment by N that cites QV.

I've occasionally had those moments too, where I've run across people in the strangest places. It's a bit reassuring to be remembered, but occasionally unnerving, especially when you encounter the awkwardness of being remembered with clarity and not having an inkling of who you're speaking to. Happened to me on Thursday at Heritan. Glad you had a good one, Bear.

I'm glad you were pleased with the citation. It seemed to fit. The reason I love that song so much is that it is the anti-cynic, the lineup of arguments against the premise that you can't win, or break even, or leave the game. You can do any of the three if you approach it right... on the whole, I prefer winning.
