Very cool -- I saw it in action this afternoon doing a search.

Felt oddly down all day, with only a short walk despite the perfect walking weather. Felt a huge amount of -- don't know: stress? tension? anxiety?... Tight across the chest, but no other anxiety symptoms. Also pain in the left hip left over from the weekend; can't tell whether it's a tight muscle or the joint. A short walk did nothing to help loosen it up. Grumble.

The down mood seems pretty clearly related to the overcast weather and low light level, so that's an interesting data point suggesting that I ought to try a SAD light. The tension, or whatever it is, could be related to the hip pain. Or it could be work-related. Or not. Yes, I'm taking aspirin.

Had my first encounter with Google's Ajaxified search, after upgrading to google-chrome-unstable -- it's cool. (You can see it in action in this video of Tom Lehrer's song, "The Elements". Fun!)

Some other links under the cut.

SAD lights and other lighting ideas

You can get some full-spectrum lighting (mostly what I know is OTT lights, and you can find them in Joanne's fabrics, or at least on their website where they are often found at 50% off, which is not insubstantial. Many quilting stores carry them--there's one in Scotts Valley next to Nob Hill grocery that has several to see. I happen to favor the "alabaster" style lightshade. IMNSHO, many of the early OTT lights are plain uggggly.

You can also get full spectrum bulbs for existing lamps, as well as FS fluorescent tubes (OSH), They made a great deal of difference for me in the relatively dark house we had in Santa Cruz--expecially in the kitchen. I had to replace two tubes, chose to buy FS, installed them...and went right back to get more for the whole set in the kitchen.

I have some CFLs that are Daylight rather than Indoor. I probably should check to see if they're full spectrum.
