0926 Su * up 8:20; W=196.4; drugs, nose, teeth; coffee, dishes @ Rules for Anchorites - OH SHIT BEARS More book bears. @ Emergency Bra: Unsnap, separate cups, inhale... * backups: 2010-09-26T09:06:16-0700 - 2010-09-26T09:54:18-0700 /dev/sdc5 1349854392 458818756 822467008 36% /media/bak (backup drive now on nova in an external USB box.) : the mail-order pharmacy seems to be confused about my most recent prescription change. I did *not* pick up the new one when I got it. : The battery in the GoLite seems to have recovered much of its ability to hold a charge. YAY! : Power usage on nova with the backup drive is 16.9% of 260W=36W, so an extra 3W for the drive. Guess I can live with that. : the GoLite carrying case has an extra, full-width mesh compartment. Odd. Could probably hold the travel cable collection. <- tempted to call the TGl teaser album "unscratched" @ GOLDEN BOUGH BLEND at White Horse Coffee & Tea Company (via chaoswolf) : :( no sound on trantor! GAAK! Isn't seeing any audio devices. : sound under ubuntu works fine. * st/roll around the Rose Garden * drive: out and around; Caffino for iced yummies * quesadillas with guacamole for dinner @ Cooking for Geeks. Gluten Free Cooking for Dummies. * delete .elc files because ubuntu is on emacs 23 & apparently Chrome installs just fine on the Dell mini. * confirmed compatibility between emacs/gnus on nova and trantor/ubuntu; that was the main thing I was worried about. * Debian 5.06 apparently has trouble with sound -- broken on nova, too. -> steve not in audio group -- duh!
If only all my problems were so easy to solve! Audio going away after I upgraded my desktop? It's because user "steve" wasn't in the audio group. Duh.
I did, finally, get the backup drive onto the fileserver in an external box; it seems to be taking on the order of an extra 3W when idling, so that's not bad.
Colleen and I went for a st/roll around the Rose Garden, followed by a nice drive. Followed by quesadillas for dinner, since I wasn't feeling terribly ambitious, and since I'd started by making guacamole with no tortilla chips in the house, it seemed like a reasonable thing to do.
Colleen and I now have Chrome running on our netbooks. Didn't realize it ran under Hardy Heron. Yay!
On the other hand... no scratch tracks. :(
A good day, on the whole, I think.
