Color meme

I got this one from pocketnaomi. The rules: comment if you want me to give you a color... either one which I feel somehow associated with you, or just a random one. Post ten things that you like which are that color. pocketnaomi gave me BLUE.

1. Cobalt blue. I seem to have lost track of the little piece of cobalt glass Dad brought home from the lab when I was rather young, but it was a lovely shade of deep blue.
2. The sky. Especially when it's a deep, deep blue with high wisps of cirrus clouds around the edges.
3. Big Blue. IBM has deep roots reaching back to the age before software was a business, and it shows. They also made damned good laptops.
4. Blue agave, especially when made into tequila.
5. Star sapphires.
6. The microfiber washcloths I've been getting from Fry's lately -- fast drying, very absorbant, very good at scrubbing... and a lovely light blue.
7. My new GoLITE therapy lamp, with 30-odd bright blue LEDs.
8. Forget-me-nots. Also the blue iris we had growing in our back yard of the house where I grew up.
9. Blue plastic tarps. Actually I'm not particular about the color; the one we used as a sunshade in the SCA was green, but for some reason the blue ones seem to be easier to find. I have our present blue tarp out in the driveway protecting the bicycles right now.

My grandmother worked with Big Blue's machinery when they didn't make computers, they made cash registers. She said they made good cash registers; she liked using them.

They also made the Selectric typewriter, with the wonderful clicky touch that lives on in the Model M keyboards I'm addicted to.

Thinking of things isn't as easy as I thought...

1. My purple hair, especially when it's freshly retouched. Having long, straight, silky, dark-purple hair makes me feel powerful.
2. The purple sky of deep dusk: "The silence of a falling star/ Lights up a purple sky..." (Hank Williams, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry")
3. Purple lightning - and most lightning is purplish-white.
4. Purple neon decorative lights.
5. "Black light" used for special effects. I can see slightly into the near-UV range, which makes the effects very interesting.
6. Purple electrical coronas and plasma discharge effects, both human-made and "wild".
7. Gem-quality amethyst, the kind my former High Priestess calls "petrified grape jelly".
8. Sparkly purple socks - I have several pairs.
9. Just about any sparkly, metallic, or shiny purple fabric, made into clothes I can wear. I have my own definitions of when it's "appropriate" to wear them ;-)
10. My purple ("Thunder") Leatherman Juice (http://www.leatherman.com/product/Juice Xe6) multi-tool.

How is the GoLITE working out for you?

Pretty well, I think. A little hard for me to tell, but it's dark in the mornings these days and I don't seem to be feeling down the way I did before I got it.
