Partial Solar Eclipse

mdlbearAfter checking for news at about 5:00pm yesterday and finding a reference to an eclipse site with timings (here)
I managed to drag myself away from work in time to get home just as it was
reaching its maximum (minimum?) at 6:15. Dragged the kids out of the house
to look at the pinhole images and appreciate the leaf-shadows. I'm not
sure they were sufficiently impressed, but I was.
The sun was down to a beautiful crescent, about 70% obscured. Stunning.
BTW, I'm trying out livelizard for this post -- it's pretty cool.
