More Baycon purchases

I needed change, so I hurried into the dealers' room and bought a bumper sticker. When I showed it to chaoswolf she literally fell down laughing. It says:

Cthulhu-Cola -- It's the Surreal Thing

I also acquired an HP LaserJet 4m from roaringmouse's husband C. I have issues with HP gear, but this one seems to be built pretty solidly. Had a problem on boot-up that I traced to the localtalk interface card. Removed that and it worked fine. Linux, needless to say, has no problem talking to HP laser printers; I swapped drivers and it came right up.

HP's newer stuff is not so hot; the 4xxx and 5xxx series are all quite good, though. Their home-end line is to be avoided (as it's cheaply made) - their office-line stuff was very, very solid. I have a 5MP (I believe) that has been running solidly for years.

So far, every piece of HP gear I've had (LJ IIp, DAT drive, and high-end scanner) has quit abruptly; in all cases their tech support was unhelpful, and their support website is practically useless.

But, as you say, the high-end printers appear to be pretty solid; I expect to get my money's worth out of this one.
