" @ Why The New Guy Cant Code " So what should a real interview consist of? Let me offer a humble proposal: don’t interview anyone who hasn’t accomplished anything. Ever. Certificates and degrees are not accomplishments; I mean real-world projects with real-world users. There is no excuse for software developers who don’t have a site, app, or service they can point to and say, “I did this, all by myself!” in a world where Google App Engine and Amazon Web Services have free service tiers, and it costs all of $25 to register as an Android developer and publish an app on the Android Market. Hmm. Pretty good day, I think; only thing missing was a walk. Wandering around stores looking for stuff doesn't really count as exercise.
Completely aside from the shopping (for coffee and a stovetop teapot), I got quite a lot done around the house. Mostly, upgrading nova (the fileserver) and trantor (the desktop) to Debian Squeeze. Also making a tasty dinner. Colleen and I liked it, anyway.
Oh, and some updates on my website, in particular the gig list. Now that I know when my Baycon concert slot will be.
Quite a few links up there in the notes, some with teaser quotes. Go for it.
And a happy Mother's Day for all the moms out there! Most especially to my own Colleen. Have a good one!
