mdlbearApparently I nearly lost my Cat. She'd been feeling ill for a week or so: more tired than usual, sleeping badly, more joint pain than usual... Went in to Kaiser Friday to get looked at, and had some blood work done.
Yesterday around 5pm she got a very worried call telling her to go in right now and pick up a prescription for potassium supplements. Seems hers was 2.5 (don't know the units) -- normal is more like 35. When it gets that low it starts affecting the heart, among other things. Came back with a container of pills about the size of footballs -- maybe 2-3g. They seem to be working, though.
Monday she has another appointment to follow up and maybe figure out why her blood potassium level was so low.
