Hmm. Mixed? I've been writing technical reports at work -- it's that time of year -- and writing tends to be pretty absorbing. So not much else to report in the way of actually doing stuff. I did take a 2-mile walk yesterday and the day before; I think it might be a good idea to skip today because yesterday hurt a little.

I think this body is out of warranty.

When I came home yesterday Colleen asked if I was depressed, or just tired. I realized that I couldn't really tell. So... yeah; that's a problem. I suspect both; I'd been thinking on the drive home about our financial situation. Which is pretty much all of my own making.

I can haz poem: "The Bear Spectacle", based on my prompt at ysabetwordsmith's poetry fishbowl. It was paid for by westrider.

... and some gadget lust: Raspberry Pi is an ARM Linux board for a mere $35 (plus shipping from the UK). They'll be shipping later this month, apparently. WANT.

After two days of walking 2 miles is a pretty good time to take a rest day. I try to walk 2-3 miles 5 days a week, and when I fall out of it, I find that 2 on, 1 off is a pretty good rhythm for getting back into it.

I'm not sure how I feel about osewalrus's thoughts about conventional election wisdom. On the one hand, the argument makes perfect sense, but on the other, Americans have been pretty well trained in ignoring cognitive dissonance at this point, and in particular, the right has gotten very good at getting them to vote against their own best interests.

We'll see, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be voting Socialist in protest :P

I used to do 3-5 miles 6-7 days/week, but that was the better part of a decade ago now. Gleep!

The only thing that keeps me voting for the Democrats is that the Republicans would be *much* worse.

As solarbird pointed out a little while back, though, that sends the message that they can do anything as long as they're not quite as bad as the 'pugs. At this point, I don't think there's room for them to be *much* worse, with the Dems already approving of the unrestricted torture and assassination of American citizens.

That's one of the big reasons that the entire political dialogue in the US has slid so far to the right over the last few decades.

I'm gonna vote for someone who might actually be going for the same ideals as me. And I'm going to tell the Dems in those races why they lost my vote, too.

I'm still firmly in the "lesser of two evils" camp; both parties are bought by the same batch of corporations, but at least the Dems aren't heading full-throttle toward a theocracy, and still give lip service to social services.
