So... a quiet day at home. First day of my (hopefully temporary) retirement? That. Odd mood; sort of washed-out. Not really surprising.

I made pasta and red sauce for dinner, with a salad. A little work on my Stephen R. Savitzky, Software Wizard, Guru & Toolmaker page, including the new tag line. Tell me what you think!

And if you haven't seen it already, go watch A Message to All Police Officers From Occupy Wall Street.

Hey Steve.

Thank you.

Friend of mine of chat was suddenly in acute distress, because one of her friends who uses a wheelchair was being down on herself because sometimes she is sitting in her wheelchair and feels FINE, how dare she use one and make everyone think she *needs* it.

It took me about two minutes to pull up a link to your 'Wheelin'" post.

(LJ I WASN'T DONE)

Thank you for giving us something to SAY.

I love the new tagline. Based on my interviewing experiences trying a similar approach I'm not sure how well it will work, but on a very spiritual & visceral level I think it's the right one for you (and probably for a lot of other people who have had to shove themselves in corporate boxes, though they can't admit it because the need said boxes). (...and thank you for the link to the Ticky-Tacky video a few days back!)

The [HTML] link in your menu bar initially made me think it was a piece of broken code, and although I figured it out quickly it's sometimes first impressions that count. Maybe you could address this by having the main menu links left-aligned, and the [HTML] indented or right-aligned?

Or maybe put the [HTML] in smaller font -- just something to visually indicate that's it's not on the same level as the others/it depends on one of the others for meaning.

Steve, I think I'd remove the phrase that indicates how long you have been working in technology. Telling HR that it is 50 years is telling too much. It is a question they cannot ask. Maybe use "decades"??

That guy in the video did a good job of shaming police forces. But he's a little crazy. Nathaniel said he had a better understanding of economics in High School than the guy in the video has.

Have two leads for you. One, [livejournal.com profile] jtraub is looking for a dev for his wee company; two, we may be looking for a dev in ours. (Dunno how you would feel working for a company 49% owned by Goldman Sachs... but the other 51% is family, and it shows...)

I bounced your stuff to JT (I see what you did there on your site, having the main page basically be a cover letter, and the rest helpful supporting info - nice! and neat, in that very sparse esr-like style that I often find myself emulating...); I'll have a chat with our dev VP as soon as I can and point him your way as well.

Very well written. I think it's impressive, but I'm not in that industry. Also (to me) it's impressively sparse and functional.
