mdlbear: blue fractal bear with text "since 2002" (Default)

I guess the main event from the weekend was lunch with our old friends Alan and Jeanne Rognlie, who moved out of the Bay Area some 32 years ago. We met for lunch at the AFK Tavern, although no gaming ensued. Good visit.

We decided to have Thanksgiving dinner here; the fridge is now full of turkey. The living room is still full of boxes; we're going to at least move them out of the center of the room. It'll have to do. Progress is, in any case, being made.

I also wrote a poem on Saturday.

I converted my mobile phone plan to a shared-data plan. It includes unlimited voice and text, and 10GB of shared data. The way the pricing works is a little weird, with the price per phone going down as data goes up; 10GB was only $10 more than 6GB. I end up saving about $60/month.

Musical links for the weekend include this Adorably Gruesome Public Service Announcement About Death And Dismemberment, and of course "American Hostess Pie" to the obvious tune.

  * 15min: cleared two book boxes. Now only two boxes in the way of a clear
path to the desk again. And one is a partially-filled "to store" box.
  * Duh. My phone has a timer (part of the Swiss Army Knife app)
Realized this when I wanted coffee while YD had a pie in the oven.
" me: Chaos is off larping. There's probably a song titled "The LARP in the
    Morning" in there somewhere.
  * 1pm lunch with Alan and Jeanne at AFK. Hadn't realized, but it must be over
30 years. Lots of catching up to do.
  * 15min: finally put away the suitcases from Orycon. Put Colleen's Travelpro
rolly inside her suitcase, along with the needlepoint. Put a couple of
backpacks into mine. There is more room in the closet.
  * 15min: collapsed the last of the wardrobe boxes; brought one in to be
filled with flattened book boxes for storage. Some boxes from the porch are
too wet for saving at this point; brought one in for recycling. Progress.

it. It was never used except as an alias for thestarport.org, and now that
the house is under new management as the Intergalactic Haus of Waffles...
& dumb bear: lit the wrong burner trying to boil water for tea; may have
wrecked the YD's pumpkin pie. Careless!!!!!
  * *whew* the pie is ok. The crust is a little scorched in spots, but who
    needs it?
& put Doc and Lit subdirectories under git control, finally, after having
figured out how to squelch the git-cvs-import errors. (Basically, make sure
everything's checked in.) Triggered by having written a poem (see above)

    find something around $150.

  * 15min: cleared three boxes (of course, this involved putting the contents
    onto shelves rather haphazardly, but...)
