mdlbearSo... last week was both relaxing and stressful. It was my first full week after my contract ended, and included our second weekend in the new house. Saturday, in fact, we had our first event, a tea party catered by Friday Afternoon Tea.
I had several interviews, and one in-person interview. That was pretty good; my job search was really starting to heat up. I spent quite a lot of money on and around the house, some of it rather inadvisedly. We did save rather a lot by switching from a curved stairlift from Ameriglide (which we found out doesn't actually get permits or use licensed installers in Washington) to a pair of straight ones from Acorn. Saved $4k.
The house has a secret passage! Well, ok, it's a laundry chute. But it was a secret from me, anyway.
I'm going to cut this short (if you really want details, you'll find them in the notes) to get to the last two days, which were kind of harrowing.

from Kat's. Somehow they added somebody else's cell phone instead of the
original home number, and left Kat on the old account.

Jennifer was *incredibly* helpful. But I have to go down to the damned
store to get them to unscrew the bogus line. IDIOTS! 110min on the line.

called nearly half an hour late, and my phone crapped out. I suspect the
charging connector is hosed. Didn't get many questions asked, because he
wanted to get to the technical questions. There's a general arch/set of
requirements but no design or code -> ground up.

-> works. Not clear that there was anything wrong with it, but the warranty
on the service call is good for 90 days, so if anything else goes wrong
he'll come out and fix it for free.
= measure upstairs bathroom: tub area ~5' Putting in a corner tub might
involve moving the wall heater.
= the MBR closet not only has enough space on the side toward the bathroom for
a washer, it has a *laundry chute* going down to the laundry, from which
pipes could be run. Would take putting something in front of them, but
that'll want to be done anyway.
= the MBR shower needs new fixtures. The current ones are decrepitating.
= gas pipe to LR fireplace *broken*; plumbing and wiring just plain bizarre.
There was Cat-5e at least along the S. wall on the main floor.
* Went to the AT+T store in Northgate; they say it will take a day or more
because they have to make contact with the person who was randomly added to
my bill.
* Chicken thighs and pasta for dinner. My idea, though it was Colleen's idea
for me to cook on the YD's day because she wasn't home yet.
* Over to N's to deliver something she'd forgotten to get out of the van
yesterday, and to tuck in the kids.
