Done last week (20131109 Sa - 16 Sa)

The big news: Friday Colleen went upstairs (supervised by two PTs -- they'd originally been planning to do car transfers but it was raining). They marked out where I should put grab bars; I got one of them in yesterday.
Lots of puttering, last weekend and this. Finally got new showerheads installed. The new hand shower has a vertical bar that can be used as a grab bar; it turns out that drilling tile is a bitch, so it's only held on by two screws at the moment. I'll work on that some more this afternoon. Brought up a box of cookbooks. Etc.
Friday came over yesterday (yes, Friday was here on Saturday) and made curried chicken. There are leftovers; not entirely sure what we're having for dinner tonight. We also had pizza (last Saturday) and Chinese (Friday).
I got some work done on the Steve.Savitzky.net and Rainbow's End Massage websites, though not all that much.
I had some notion last week of dropping the "Done" posts back to one per week, and doing occasional posts with real content in between. Well, I got halfway there...
Lots of links in the notes; you can read about the Autism Speaks kerfuffle, perfect forward secrecy and other security matters (Hi there, NSA), and Avengers AU fanfic with cats, among many others.
1109 Sa * up 7ish?; W=206.6, BP=119/82, P=66; d, n; shower : went out to go fetch supplies; found the van's battery dead. Not totally, but not enough to start. Took Felicity, which turned out to have been a mistake; got back 11:30, just barely in time for N to get to work. * Walgreens: supplies; HD: car jump-start battery, Cree 40W bulbs (on sale 50% off) tried to refill HCTZ prescription; can't until Monday. QFC: bacon, sweet rolls; 3 Dover sole filets on impulse = N has to leave 11:15 on weekends. & Colleen didn't want the sole filets, so I had them for afternoon tea, all to myself. ! feeling stupid and depressed. * looks like pizza again Not complaining a whole lot. * Got a quick version of Rainbow's End up Ugly, but it has links to Rainbow's End Massage and my two sites. & ordered pizza (for the second time this weekend) Probably shouldn't have, but... 1110 Su * up 9; W=205.0; d, n; shower : Net was down. Spent over an hour on the phone, mostly on hold; apparently some other address and phone number is now associated with our account; that person had called and had it disconnected because they'd been evicted from their appartment. WTF? * Got the van restarted, after discovering that everything in the engine compartment that looked like metal was actually painted. Resorted to clamping onto the negative terminal, which had an exposed nut. :P The battery is wimpy, but it did the job. * Walked to Trader Joe's -- same distance from home as my usual bus stop: .3mi. * Brought up a box of cookbooks from the garage and put them on the shelves; stood up the cookbooks that were already there. Adjusted the shelves to be tall enough for magazines and most large-format cookbooks. * Moved an unused floor lamp from the sewing area to the Rainbow Room next to the other chair, where a little extra light is needed for reading. : Glenn made dinner, while Colleen kibbitzed. : The wind blew down the archway in front of our second entrance; needs fixing. @ Which of the 11 American nations do you live in? -> Tufts Magazine / fall 2013 Up in Arms: The battle lines of today’s debates over gun control, stand-your-ground laws, and other violence-related issues were drawn centuries ago by america’s early settlers. % my left ankle is complaining about something. Good. * refill C's humira prescription (call in) * On the way home (between the streetcar and bus) dumped the contents of my change pocket into a hat collecting for typhoon aid. Particularly satisfying because I'd bought chips with a $5 and so had about $4.50 in change weighing me down. 1112 Tu * up 6:45; W=204.2; d, n & took the kids to the bus stop; had a nice talk with G. * Walgreens: fill HCTZ prescription. I was in an unfamiliar airport getting ready for a flight to Japan. On impulse I bought a kitten, and was scrambling around trying to find a carrier when I realized that the conference I was going to was in student housing and didn't allow pets.
