I guess there's something about knowing how bad it's going to be. Also knowing that I can pay off my tax bill in installments, because it's going to be bad. Really bad. There's a reason why my financial posts are tagged "trainwreck".

I finally got off my arse and sorted my piles of receipts and the like, and this morning (so it's not in the notes yet -- you'll have to wait until next month) installed the software (which I still think of as TaxCut) and did the preliminary data entry. There are still some sizeable pieces missing, but I've been making progress.

I also got a couple of phone calls made -- I hate making phone calls.

I was depressed and anxious most of the week. At least I noticed -- for someone with alexithymia, that's an improvement.

On the up side, we watched Frozen last weekend -- excellent. Passes the Bechdel test.

    apparently successfully recognized two emotions yesterday - depression and anxiety.

  * work:  5 meetings and a hasty (though tasty) lunch at 2pm.  Still managed some coding.
  % Heading for the bus this morning I stepped halfway on a curb and tweaked my left
    ankle.  Didn't hurt at the time, but it's up to a 3 or so now.  Took naproxen.

  * connect with gardener.  (She called during a meeting; I called back; she called again
    during dinner; I finally connected at 9pm.  All good.)
  * Dinner at Blue C (SouthCenter) for Emmy's birthday.  Me, Colleen, Emmy, and Tim.
  : Curio snuggled up between us on the bed, and stayed there much of the all night.
    First time he's done that; I'm hopeful that it won't be the last.

  * Got my new Comcast cable voice/IP modem/router.  Missing the backup battery, but since
    I'm not relying on it for phone I don't really care.  Will probably use the phone line
    for fax (my MFP is right there), and turn off the WiFi because the Netgear is better.
    But we'll see.

Man, sorry the finances suck so much. How blithe I must have sounded. :(

I love to pay bills because it's so good that I can.

I alternate between complacency and despair over the finances, but it was really amazing how much my mood improved after Glenn mentioned that it's possible to pay a big tax bill in installments. Yeah, it's a huge bill, but it's that high because I sold $80K worth of stock to put toward the house, and it was worth it. I'll get it back when the Starport sells sometime in late spring or early summer.

I have a tendency to neglect some (not all) of my bills -- bad habit.

Blithe is good, though -- don't stop! *hugs*

My tax bill will be around $120,000. (mostly because I had to eat my retirement savings to pay for overruns on my home renovations).
