I'm going to go at this backwards, because last night's house concert was amazing. Tracy Grammer is amazing - vocalist, guitarist, storyteller, and more recently songwriter. In addition to being an all-around sweet person.

I missed the chance to socialize before the concert because I was busy trying to get the tech to work -- it was the first time in a long time that I'd used that mixer, and I was also short on cables. Managed to cobble things together, but it took longer than it should have. Grumble. Well, next time...

The week started out pretty well, too -- the morning coffeeshop service at the Doubletree was good (in contrast to the lunch/dinner service, which suffered from being seriously understaffed), and it was about the easiest load-out ever from a local con. Packing light has its advantages.

In between, of course, I was working, so there isn't much to be said about that.

I also woke up very early a couple of times. If it wasn't for the inevitable oversleeping the next couple of days I'd want to do it every day.

    they have a dungeness crab fritatta that's cheaper than the (worthless) buffet (though
    having to pay extra for coffee wipes that out).

    what feels like a quarter-mile from the room to the lobby.

  * 1:30 Colleen woke me up -- she was having a severe nosebleed.  Lasted half an hour,
    and the place looked like a battlefield.  Will probably WFH today.  I want to make
    sure she's sleeping comfortably before I try to get back to sleep.

  : Giselle cleaned my desk yesterday.  Mostly ok, I think, though I'll have to do some
    tracking down of the stuff that I had in partially-sorted stacks.
  * 15min: puttering, mostly around the desk.  Threw out a dying phone charger cord and
    some .5a chargers.  Installed the new 5-port charger between the chairs in the Rainbow
    Room.  Should maybe get another for travel.  Later.  Right now funds are tight.
  * 7:30 Tracy Grammer at RE -- YAY!  Got one person from work, and a lot of Tracy's
    fans, some from Portland.
    Setting up sound proved harder than it should have, in part because I hadn't practiced
    with the mixer, and in part because I'm short on good cables.  OK, add that to the
    project list.
    The concert was excellent.  She's been writing her own songs; most of the second half
    was hers.

I am duly impressed. Tracy is fantastic.

I know a lot of folkies who travel around doing the house concert circuit. Would be happy to offer opinions in a non-public forum,
