Fixing LJ's homepage

I've been seeing a number of complaints on my friends page about the new LJ homepage. Here's how you fix it:

1. Go to your friends page. It's [your-user-name].livejournal.com/friends .
2. Bookmark it.
3. Never go to the LJ home page again.

If so, they've fixed that since yesterday, possibly because of so many complaints. Yesterday, that was redirecting to '[username].livejournal.com/feed' which would only do their horrific layout, no matter how much you clicked on things which should have changed it.

Thank you. I was bookmarked, because I have an edit I like to use to view my friends page. That edit kept taking me to the new page and I was clicking twice on FEED to get back to the old. I added a new bookmark, deleted the old one, and now it seems to work.

I don't even bookmark it - I just type it in, and google chrome autocompletes it for me.

I keep getting redirected to their base feed page. So... I have no idea how it's working for other people, but it sure isn't working for me.

Unless you just mean people were having a problem finding their friends page at all. I have no problem with that, but I want it in the style I want it in, not in the style that LJ has decided everyone must use now for no apparent reason. If you can tell me how to get it to stop being in stupid format, that would be more useful.

That's weird -- it's always been in the right style for me. Maybe they got rid of the old style system? (S1, I think it's called.)

OK. On the new profile page, click on your icon (on the top line) and select "blog style" from the drop-down menu. Pick a style.

Yeah, this is what I've been doing for years. I haven't had any use for the home page since they discontinued the Writer's Block prompts.

Alas, I use library and school computers, so I can't keep bookmarks between sessions.

There's a homepage? I've been using the friend feed and direct URL for long enough I'd forgotten there was another way..

Also, I use Chrome which just opens the tabs back up that I leave open.
