Well, escrow closed Friday on the Starport. My mood has been extremely volatile, and mostly in the bad direction, all week; took me until Friday to recognize that I was grieving. Knowing me, that probably means I'm in for a long run of it. Maybe I'll write something this evening.

Our hotel experience at Orycon was pretty poor, to the extent that we may very well not be back for the Westercon in 2016. (Ory is moving -- Yay!) But they gave us half a night off the bill, so there's that.

I spent yesterday puttering. The money from the Starport still hasn't shown up; if it doesn't hit my account Monday I'll hit the panic button.

  : Apparently, FB lets you add *other people* (presumably friends, but still...) to
    a group. 
  : Long wait for elevators.  At least two out of five broken.
  : "Light and fluffy" scrambled eggs.  Cold in spots, and if they have to tell you
    something that should be obvious on inspection, they're lying.  Bacon cold too, but at
    least it isn't over- or under-cooked.  They brought menus this time, but not until
    after I'd gone up to the buffet.  That's ok; Colleen is still waiting for her bagel.
  : And of course the internet connection sucks.  Was ok in the room, thankfully.

  & actually checked out at 12:20ish; they gave me 50% off out second night, which was
    nice of them.
  : Callie's set.  Included "Secret of the Crossroads Devil", X Libris (LGF really need to
    learn that)
  * Oyster House for dinner on the way up.  Giving up on the cooked oysters -- next time
    we'll get a dozen and a half raw, a bowl of clam chowder, and fries.

    -> furious emails because they dropped the ball and didn't tell me.
       Apparently Michael put it on hold last week, and didn't tell them that it was no
       longer on hold, despite being copied on the email correspondence where I was trying
       to arrange the appointment with the notary.
  ~ change addr on pension.hewitt.com (can't log in or reset pw)
    -> the website is only for getting estimates; once you're receiving payments you can't
       access it.  But of course they don't tell you that on the website. IDIOTS!

    Realized, while discussing recovering old filk tapes, that I could perfectly well put
    together an album or two of con recordings.  I should do that.

    Also, scared.  That will go away when the money arrives.

  & spent HOURS trying IR remote control apps; finally found A Smart Remote, which is free
    (in-app purchases :P) and works.  None of them seem to have an eject button :P

I've had similar things fail; I suppose in some ways, that's better, in that I don't miss it; but in other ways, it's not, in that I miss what could've been. Possibly, it is a wash. I am not sure.

Condolences for sure. though, regardless.

I hope that once a few things settle down a bit more and the money goes through and all of that happens that the fact that you have a crazy awesome place now will help more over time.
