Done last week (20141214 Su - 20 Sa)

A lot of puttering this week. Got the hallway bookcase moved downstairs; it's now much easier for Colleen to make her way to the Rainbow Room. Looks good, too. Emmy set up the tree, and moved the cat tree into the nook under the stairs. The cats seem to prefer it there. This was Wednesday; last Sunday I put in shelves there, which also helps with the clutter.
I've also been decluttering my website working directories, fixing broken symlinks, re-arranging the tree in a more sensible way, and assorted other housekeeping. Still some messes there that I have to tackle.
Curio has been a darling; he likes sitting on my desk, on a pad of folded-up fabric, and usually sleeps next to me. Cat therapy for the win. We have excellent cats. Cricket exactly matches the description in Cat Faber's song Villains's Cat, and I expect she'll make a very good one when she grows up. Curio is pretty much already there.
I've been experimenting with luggage; most recently I've gone back to Max, the REI Agility sling bag. Not big enough for my work laptop, but that's an advantage. Tomorrow I'll see how well it works alongside a laptop bag.
Mood's been mostly ok, but occasionally still fragile. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings were particularly bad.

A little brighter than usual; pretty decent. * Had Emmy and Chip take the bookcase out of the hall that leads to the Rainbow Room, basement stairs, and kitchen; and put it in the hallway downstairs. Really opens up that space. Which was the idea -- the shelf on the right is high enough that Colleen can go under it in her power chair. * for some reason I didn't have ntp installed on nova, so its clock was 10min slow. @ The Lyre Ensemble | Stef Conner (ysabetwordsmith) "The Flood" sung in ancient Babylonian. Some decent wine, and Freixenet Cordon Negro, which I haven't had much of since our wedding. : The tree is decorated, mainly by Emmy and J. We're keeping the Great Room closed to keep the cats out, which makes noone especially happy, but what can one do? 1219 Fr * Up 6:15; W=212.0 * Trying Max today (the REI Maxi sling bag). As long as I don't need to take a laptop, it's probably a good compromise on weight, size, and wearability. We'll see. (I usually take my work laptop on Fridays because of meetings, but I think I'll pass today.) It would be nice if there were fewer things to transfer between bags; have to work on that. A more vertically-oriented small shoulder bag would be easier to fit into larger bags and move between them. -> win. Good weight distribution, not too heavy. Not quite as maneuverable as the shoulder bag, and not as big; I'd have to take a rolly for a large laptop. (Fits my netbook just fine, though.) * Post Thankful Thursday @ The Feynman Lectures on Physics (from a comment of mine at dialecticdreamer. Date: 2014-12-21 06:34 pm (UTC)Secondly, Glad to hear about the cat helping you out.
Third, we had a neat local story about a guy with a 3D printer who made a prosthetic hand for a one-handed girl here in Colorado: http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_27178565/prosthetic-hand-crafted-3-d-printer-may-open
Of course, we've seen stories like this before, but I think part of the joy of this story is the fact that it's becoming more commonplace that someone can 'whip up' a hand for a stranger just to help them out.

Date: 2014-12-22 04:31 am (UTC)Yeah; there's probably a 3D printer in our household's future. Probably still a couple of years out, though.
