Mixed? L O N G week. I got my taxes filed (at almost the last minute, with glitches), and got the router jig finished (with some problems, which I hopefully fixed yesterday). But I've also been a lot less productive than I need to be at work; that's potentially a huge problem.

Yesterday we got the garage cleaned out (to the extent necessary) with the help of a couple of day laborers that N. hired. They did a fantastic job, in about half the time we'd expected. There are still huge piles of boxes and things that will have to be moved eventually, but it's all in the area that's going to become a garage, and there's space around it. (There's also a huge pile of lumber stacked on the workbench that's going to be moved into the garage after they're done. And the playroom and downstairs hallway are full of boxes, waiting for the shelves that haven't been put up yet. And and and...)

Links in the notes as usual.

@ Iconic VW Camper van to be revived as a battery-electric vehicle
  * Router jig complete. It will take 2 passes, since the bit isn't long enough.
: Premera Blue Cross and their associated mail-order pharmacy have really atrocious
    websites. Both annoying and slow.
  * shopping: supplies at Walgreen's; coffee
  * 15min: emptied out my mail cubbie; some stuff's been in there for way too long, and
it wouldn't surprise me to find a 1099 or two.
: Blackroot, with 1GB of RAM and no swap, really can't handle chrome on ubuntu.

  * 15min: 7:10 mail cubbie sorted. Not all dealt with, but sorted.
  * 9ish: slats on the bed. Could have used longer screws, but the 1.25" work ok. Went
out to HD and got Deckmates, because I don't trust cheap drywall screws under shear.
  * 10:15 box gone through; nothing tax-related or time-limited left.

  * 8am builders kick-off meeting
  * Keyboard arrived. It has an IBM logo, and a significantly longer cord. Both were
made in 2007; July for the new one, December for my old one (so obviously my old one
    is newer).
  * Taxes: checkbook and all forms entered. Done except for the Schedule C's. Still
under $5K, though just barely. Found the SSI-1099 and IRA distribution; they had
    apparently already been entered. *headdesk*

  * Taxes: Download Amex and Union Bank (HSX) statements (while waiting for Colleen)
  * 10:15 taxes done. Except it downloaded an update and lost the fact that I'd already
filed! For some reason "all agents are busy" on the live chat.
  * (re)filed -- apparently the update interrupted the process; when I went ahead and filed
again I got an immediate email in response. Still a wretched customer experience; it
used to update automatically *before* you started the filing process.

: Cute. My Union Bank online account is locked because of possible fraud. I'm guessing
it's just because I've beem logging in from so many different computers over the last
couple of days, and downloading my statements so I can do taxes, but we'll see.

  * The banking lockout was because I used Iceweasel as a browser, and also because the
mobile hotspot on my phone showed up as AT+T, whereas I normally use Quest. Figured
it might be something like that. (Was browsing from nova so that I could save into my
tax record directory, and because the site wasn't working well with chrome.)

  * we're getting a couple of day-laborers noonish to help move stuff in the garage.
-> 2:30 done. We'll have to move the wood pile and the workbench eventually.
-> We still have *way* too much stuff; it mostly fills the basement. Most of that is
books, though; shelves in the playroom will help.

@ Teacher’s resignation letter: ‘My profession … no longer exists’
  * 9:10 I can has improved jig. Made sure the top rails stayed straight, despite
slightly warped 2x4s, by clamping a level to them while screwing in the ends. about a
quarter-inch of twist; will probably just shim it, since it's as likely to be in the
    concrete as in the jig.

Well done, you!

Every time I get my portion of the tax work done, it's like the breaking of the clouds after cataclysmic storm.
