Done last week (20150426Su - 0502Sa)
2015-05-03 01:59 pmLong week. Long day yesterday. Contented bear, but my back hurts and I'm not as conscious as I might be.
Let's get the bad stuff out of the way: things continued to go full speed sideways at work, and the car was in fact totalled in the accident. I cleaned it out Tuesday and spent some time grieving -- I really liked that car, and it had served us well for a decade.
Apart from that, it's been awesome. I finished the maypole on Sunday - literally, with sandpaper and Watco Danish oil. Had fun showing it off to the builders and friends. Wedding guests started arriving Wednesday.
The Great Room was cleared out (mostly onto the balcony) and decorated with billows of rainbow-colored fabric hanging from the beams. It made a really amazing space. It still makes an amazing space; we'll be leaving the fabric up for the forseeable future even after the furniture is brought back in.
The ceremony itself, officiated by Heather Dale, was one of the most moving weddings I have ever attended. Not just the musical part ("As I Am", which was a wonderful choice and worked perfectly with the choreography), but the vows they made not only to one other but to the children.
The music afterwards was also pretty amazing.
The technical aspects -- the maypole and my admittedly minimal but functional PA setup -- came off perfectly.

* up 6ish; W=207.8; shower, laundry
* My K&E rainbow music stand arrived. An inch or so shorter than the HD one, and
half the weight. So that'll be my main travel stand.
* maypole: 2:30: Not merely Polish, but Pole. Sander passes with 60- and 150-grit.
Some tingling even with gel-filled cycling gloves, but they helped.
* maypole: 5:30: Finished (Watco Danish oil, natural) Also got some varathane spar
varnish, which I may or may not add later.
* tech dry run for the wedding. Outside, weather permitting, otherwise in the Great
Room. Basically track down all the cables and figure out where it's going. -If
possible, dry run the maypole as well.-
* Put up the mounting strip for G's desk. Actually mounting the desk will be a two
person job, of course.

* Builder conference. Showed off the maypole -- that was fun!
* Call from insurance. Should hear by Wednesday whether the car was totalled.

~ called System Pavers. No callback.
* Pulled stuff out of + off the Honda, which is totaled. I'll get about $5K.
% much anxiety at the intersection and elsewhere along the trip. Brain fried.
* maypole: tested for balance in the stand. Marginal, but will probably be ok with
tent stakes. People on the ribbons will help stabilize it.
* Bagged up as much of the cedar shavings as I could conveniently reach.
* maypole: measured out the ribbon. We have 50 yards of each, and need 50 feet for the
pole. Two passes down a 25' tape measure.
-> mounted. The wire ring could have been smaller.
* out for Martinelli's -- QFC didn't have it (though they had a couple of different
flavored variants) but Safeway did. Had to ask for help, because most of them were
way in the back of the top shelf.

* wedding prep: puttering. Cleared tools and trash off the front bench. Of course,
since the maypole is currently sitting there... Hmm.
Moved the maypole jig to the garage, left the pole on the bench. Moved the gardening
stuff under the deck.
* print original versions of Lock Keeper and Kisses Sweeter Than Wine, since I'm singing
them solo. (Inclucing pulling */Lyrics to Trantor, having determined that it has
LaTeX installed.) The original for Kisses had to be reconstructed.
* maypole: rigged the top stays.
* Sound check. Wedding rehearsal. Practice. Setting up sound takes about 5 minutes.
