Done last week (20150524Su - 0530Sa)
2015-05-31 09:31 amLookingglass Folk has started getting back into regular band work sessions (around noon on Sundays), and had a good discussion last week about playlists. And I posted a s4s (Songs for Saturday) post yesterday. So that's good. And I got some nice, and much-needed, cat time from Curio and Desti.
On the other hand, a lot of depression, anxiety, and overload this week. I'm... ok?... at the moment, but have very low expectations. The fact that depression can be counted as a disability is interesting, but it doesn't actually help -- I can't use it as an excuse for not getting stuff done. Even though work has often seemed like more than I can handle, even though I don't seem to be operating at anything close to the level I need to be at. Which, of course, feeds back into the depression and anxiety.
Help! I'm being attacked by vicious circles!
Links, and more, in the notes.

& some really nice Curio time, sitting reading in the bedroom recliner with him curled
up against my left arm.
& wikipedia dive into Tomato and proceeding to other nightshades.
From How To Cook A Wolf, which in turn comes from the tomato's species name,
lycopersicum, meaning "wolf peach". Which in turn comes from the uses of
nightshade in German werewolf legends.
* noon: LgF time. Worked on playlists for Amethyst Rose, my Worldcon concert, and the
eventual (presumably eponymous) LgF album.
: Looks like xtoolwait has finally gone the way of the dodo. Haven't missed it, so...
OTOH, there's xprop, which looks like it can be used to set WM properties on things
like xterms. (Anything else may be tricky, but shell windows have $WINDOWID.)
* Tried to fix cold solder joints in Rabbit's bass, but it's still intermittent.
* 15min: fixed Emmy's futon frame. Several of the slats had popped out; the fix
involved using an Xacto backsaw to cut flaps in the sides of the soft plastic sockets
the slats in question go into, so as to make it easy to put them back.
: miscommunication with Emmy about dental insurance; she's apparently been sitting on an
incorrectly-partially-filled-out form for weeks. Maybe months.
% Feeling as though I've completely failed my kids.
! anxious. Also somewhat depressed, but the anxiety is the main thing.
@ I'm Not A "Person With a Disability": I'm a Disabled Person -
xoJane f(Tessara Gabrielle Dudley) - not sure whether much, if any, of this
applies to me. I find it difficult to imagine any change in the world that would make
things easier for a depressed person. (I'm assured that major depression qualifies
as a disability, but the limitations on what I can do are all imposed by my own brain.
I can't blame society for them.)
There are two ideas here:
1. the difference between "X person" and "person with X" -- the first makes X part of
one's identity, and hence potentially a political statement.
2. the pun on "disabled" -- disabled as in having a disability, vs. the opposite of
enabled, by society. This one doesn't really work with most other X.

@ Josh Duggar and the Tale of Two Boxes (amaebi) scary.
* Pay bills: Centurylink
: Curio heard the coffee grinder and immediately bounded over because he knew that meant
I would be next to the fridge and could get out the milk. Which he didn't seem all
that interested in, but he _did_ seem to want a cuddle.
* git init in users/lgf; move meeting notes.
* get rid of undone.log -- it causes merge conflicts.
: Two missing Thinkpad power bricks turned up on Colleen's sewing table. Possibly found
by Glenn during the pre-wedding cleanup. I'd been wondering where those had gone.
& Some online car searching. There are a few Civics and Accords in my price range;
unfortunately not at the nearest dealership.
* Some WFH to make up for the time I missed on Friday
* Chicken Tikka for dinner.
: 9pm. Our friend Mud died a couple of hours ago. She'll be missed.
! sad. Tears, or as close as I get to them. Cat cuddles help.

* 10:00 Colleen at UNW for hose swap.
* Lunch (or late breakfast) at FloAnna's.
* Worked from home
: Got some nice cuddle time with Desti (on my desk), then later Curio (on my lap in the
Rainbow Room)

& Left in a hurry because N had an early client; forgot to change Colleen's bag. She
did it herself, which delights me.
* Unpacked my office at work.
: Heard part of a performance by Amazon's a capella group, "Vocally Self-Critical".
The name is one of $A's "leadership principles"
: The piggies got some time outside eating clover, thanks to Emmy and her friend Katy.
"Guinea Pigs' Picnic" scans to "Teddy Bears' Picnic".
: Curio went missing, and was eventually discovered (by G) on top of the bathmats on the
top shelf in our bathroom. Used a stepladder to get him down.
@ Lisp (programming language) - Wikipedia Good article. Read it because I'd
remarked to a coworker that Java8 is about 50 years late implementing lambda
expressions.

: Curio up on the top shelf in the bathroom again. I'm going to assume that he can get
down by himself when he's ready.
: ... but when I got home he was still up there, and very glad to see me.

@ Robot Hugs - Access to mental health care.
@ Edith Wharton Reviews the Starbucks Located at Her Childhood Home f(Mary Anne
Mohanraj) nicely done.
% came home very tired (and about half a sheet to the wind from Beer:30), and of course
Colleen wanted to go out. Went into moderate overload and declined.
% Managed fairly well after getting my blood sugar back up, but fell quietly apart in
bed before going to sleep.

& Lost a longish comment to ^W; found out that Chrome's security model doesn't allow
extensions to spawn processes, which explains why I don't have "It's All Text". :P
& Found my BP meter -- on the top shelf of the corner unit where the DSL modem lives.
* mounted G's desk (with Ursa Minor)
* Out for sushi with Colleen and Emmy -> Blue C in Southcenter, followed by Container
Store. The woven water hyacinth basket I wanted for the main floor bathroom was
lovely, but alas not cat-proof.
