mdlbear...we picked up the YD and went out for sushi -- it was her bribe for doing well at Sylvan this summer and agreeing (however reluctantly) to go for an additional 40 hours worth of math. It seems to have helped, anyway.

flower_cat's machine to Debian, which was necessary now that the server has been changed over (different group ID for mail). This ended up taking a great deal longer than it should have due to some installer weirdness that caused it not to recognize the ancient ethernet chip (an original DEC Tulip).
Along the way there was a major explosion from the YD about not helping her with her math, by which she apparently meant giving her arithmetic problems to do on the side (as Colleen did last year). Apparently we're supposed to figure this out by telepathy. I never did get the hang of twelve-year-olds.
