Rough week physically, so-so mentally. As for the physical, I can do no better than to quote from Tuesday's notes:

Clumsy bear got into a fight with a wet manhole cover and a sidewalk. The manhole cover tripped me and the sidewalk hit me in the face. Lost the fight, but got away quickly enough to escape serious injury. (Slipped, and would probably have recovered except that I tripped over the curb and did a faceplant.)

Hand apparently broke the fall pretty well, but I have some abrasions on knee and forehead, and a fair amount of bruising and a cut on the bridge of my nose. Grump. Ouch. Glasses had their nosepiece bent a little but nothing scratched or broken. Could have been *much* worse.

As it turned out, I had two small breaks in my nose; they showed up on the CAT scan. At this point everything but the nose and the abrasion on my knee have stopped hurting even a little. I got off easy.

Mentally, my current meds appear to be doing their job. I'm worried about Ticia, though. She hasn't been eating much, and has lost weight since we got her. (She was overweight, but still; I don't like it.) She is also still getting into fights with the other cats. On the other hand, she's also endearingly cuddly, especially with me.

The other biggish news is that we got the HELOC to cover the overrun on the remodel. Colleen and I went and signed for it yesterday. Of course, it makes me worry more about finances.

I've done a little practicing; need to do more, especially on the stuff I'm likely to be playing at and around Mom's birthday party.

Lots of links, as usual.

: Ticia ate a fair amount of the lamb last night; very little of the fish this morning
: Ticia managed to jump out of my arms onto the desk and fall off, taking the cat-pad
and my nearly full cup of coffee down with it. For a cat, she's awfully clumsy.
Poor thing was frightened, too, and she's skittish enough already because of Cricket.
  * 15min: change upstairs litterbox, litter genie. Tidy Cats litter is significantly
    lighter than the Arm+Hammer stuff.

  * shopping:
    * leg plates for tables (Junction True Value)
    * a variety of nuts, bolts, screws, and washers (HD) (didn't have a brass assortment)
    * Dinner (steak, baked potatoes, and broccoli), cranberry relish ingredients (Metro)
% I am, on occasion, incredibly dense. Not only did I mis-count the steaks and potatoes
(got 4; we have 5 people) but what I've been drinking for the last week is not gin but
shochu. It's *good* shochu, and it was shelved next to the gin with its label turned
away, and I was taken by the name (Elvenstar), but still. Feeling more than a little
stupid. No point in getting another potato since they were already in the oven --
got an extra steak, and I'll scrounge the starch.

: Met a coworker from West Seattle -- Susan. Works over on the marketing side of our
floor, and takes the 21x to someplace near White Center. Cool. Because of her, I
walked to the bus stop at 3rd and Virginia. That, getting off there, and going back
to 5th and Lenora to get the tablet looked at, pushed my step count over 10K. We
traded cat pix on the bus.
  * Tablet to Gadget Fix at 5th and Lenora
-> The tablet, of course, just needed a different charging cord. Why that happens
primarily with Samsung tablets is an annoying mystery.
YouTube video advocates squeezing the cable connector with pliers. Plausible.
@ How to fix a phone that won't charge properly - AndroidPIT This is not,
apparently, even remotely an uncommon problem. The damned connectors are simply too
      fragile. Unfortunate.

% DAMN. I apparently broke something when I fell -- my forehead has a flat spot. Will
have someone take me in after a fast dinner. There's a sinus up there; it probably
took the brunt of the shock. But still -- needs to be checked out.
  * N drove me to Harborview Now waiting for a bed in the ER. Grump. Clumsy bear.
% The flat spot appears to have been nothing but soft tissue damage; the only thing that
showed up on the CAT scan was two small breaks on the bridge of my nose.
% would have made well over 10K steps except that we didn't get out of the ER until
    after midnight.

Loaded drugs because I hadn't done it last night.
  * Knee trouble. Cut short my planned lunchtime expedition to Bartell's, and grabbed
lunch downstairs in Dawson. Yummy, but I kind of miss my gin, and could really have
used triple antibiotic with pain relief.

: kerfuffle about dinner time: the original plan had been mid-afternoon, but somehow
that fell through the cracks and it ended up at 7. It would have been possible to hit
the earlier time except that the turkey hadn't thawed; will take 4 hours to do that in
    cold water.
@ Cry HADDOCK and release the cats of war!
& cream of buckwheat for breakfast. Perhaps cut a little smaller than kasha, but same

& Wikipedia dive into grains, groats, and porridge; starting at buckwheat.
  * Dinner. Timed pretty much perfectly. I made the gibblet gravy and carved the bird,
as well as having made the cranberry relish the night before. Good relish, but there
was more of all three kinds left over than I expected. It was all good, and as usual
I ate a little too much, but only a little.
  * buy Conflikt lunch tickets.

: FB has way more ads than usual. Think I'll stay off it for the rest of the day.
% My scrapes are healing well except for the knee. That's probably because the band-aid
I put on it rubs it when I flex the knee. Which isn't good. Will try to leave it
uncovered as much as I can today, which means rolling up my pants leg. Which is cold.
  * WFH. Cat-proofed the work laptop with the old Thinkpad keyboard's leather case. Sat
    the Logitech touchpad on top.
  * correct list of access points by IP; fix wap2, which didn't have the WAN port assigned
to the switch, which is why it didn't work when I tried to replace -up with it.
% in the Rainbow Room with Colleen, hammered dulcimer music, and a hot buttered rum.
% 7:42 I've had Ticia snuggled on my lap for over half an hour. possibly because I'm
using a blanket. In any case, it's sweet. (Update: 8:12 and she's still there, so
probably over an hour so far.)
: The backpack that I ordered from REI arrived: very nice. Bigger than it looked at
first. The main compartment isn't quite as easy to open as the old one because of the
rain flap, but this is Seattle. I'll eventually miss the elastic cord, but since the
new one has a column of loops down the front I may be able to improvise something.
