mdlbear: a locomotive engine dangling from a hole in a building (trainwreck)
[personal profile] mdlbear

How the fuck did I get to be 69 years old? I'm still busy misspending my youth!

Speaking of misspending, I managed to scare the heck out of myself by transferring money for the mortgage payment to the household account, then paying it out of my personal account because I didn't think the transfer would post quickly enough. Wrong on both counts. No lasting harm done, but still...

In other news, although I've been a little more productive than usual, I'm seriously concerned that it isn't enough.

Taxes are in progress. It's probably going to be a trainwreck again.

Not really a good year. I think that, from about March through September, I was basically out of my mind with depression and anxiety. I may have my meds stabilized now, but I'm still having to deal with the fallout from what I screwed up.

The last few days I've been swinging between despairing (finances) and whatever state I'm in when I have a purring, blissed-out cat next to me. I don't think it's either happy or contented, but whatever it is it's better than the alternatives.

still have to set up Eclipse to do the exercises; they have their own version. Which

: trainwreck: DAMN. Mortgage payment posted way late. I should, I suppose, keep better
track. There was more than enough in savings to cover it, but that leaves me with
less of a cushion than I was hoping for. Still have to calculate taxes. Or I could
deposit the pile of checks I have sitting around. Changes where I was going to put
    them, though.
-> SILLY BEAR. I transfered enough to cover the mortgage into the household account,
then paid it out of my personal account because I was afraid the transfer would
take a lot longer than it actually did. So the money is around, just in the wrong
place. I'll pay next month's out of the household account and use the difference
to replenish savings and cash reserve. Feeling much better.

: CRAP!!!! I think yesterday was the last day for benefits changes, and I haven't
re-initialized my flex account. I'm screwed. Unless I can sneak in because weekend.
-> nope. Screwed. It's "only" $2k, but even so... WHAT WAS I THINKING?!
       I wasn't, apparently.
& Trantor crashed in the middle of the upgrade. apt-get install --fix-broken seems to
be doing a lot of work, so it's possible that it may come back.
-> aaaaand it's back. Took two rounds of fix-broken, but it worked.
  * Out with Colleen. Pretty much all afternoon. Luisa's Mexican Grill (YUM) plus
Central Market. Total was about what we would have paid at Salty's, but with a full
meal for the family (slow-roasted corned beef and cabbage for the 17th), Indian
condiments, and caprese for tomorrow. I'll take it.
% blissed-out purring cat next to me in the chair. typimg one-handed.
... now have both hands free. Still not going anywhere. Will eventually be a
problem; for now I'm enjoying it. Drifty.
  * Port Townsend isn't where I thought it was, and it's no slower to drive all the way
than to take the ferry. Though there are two routes with ferries: the Seattle-
Bainbridge Island, and the Everett-Kingston. All the same, modulo wait time.
% ouch! Back hurty, esp. after doing dishes
: the Premera and express-scripts websites SUCK.
  * first pass over the mail cubby. Found W2 and one of the two 1099Rs
: gnome-flashback even more broken on 15.10; fortunately there appear to be workarounds.
getting to panel configuration now requires WIN-ALT. Making my Model M keyboards
    useless.
