The week started with my 69th birthday, continued on through Pi Day and Colleen's birthday, and ended with dinner in Port Townsend celebrating Emmy's birthday a week early (to keep from being out of town for caucus day).
It was also a busy and productive week at work. Finally. Winding up in a corner with a window in front of me after the move seems to have helped; there is also more space in the new layout, and fewer TPMs, both of which reduce the cross-talk. I started working on my taxes, which probably won't be quite as bad as last year.
Pretty good week, considering.
Considering that I'm well over half a million in debt, in a house that is just what we want but which we won't be able to afford if I lose my job, which seems likely because I'm neither enjoying it much nor performing as well as I need to. I'm depressed and anxious, both with good reasons.
Looking back over years and decades of horribly bad decisions, and wondering whether there's any way out of the hole I've dug for myself. Probably not.

. taxes: * sort top shelf, * sort mail cubby, . open mail, pull summaries
* Continuing to re-arrange things on the GR bookcase.
* Ordered batteries for Colleen's power chair. Apparently one can only expect them to
last 6 months to a year, so... These were from BatterySharks; half the price of
Batteries+ (though shipping cut into that some) AGM deep cycle.
: High wind warning today, and it's blowing like crazy. Could lose connection and/or
power at any time, though it's less likely that some other places in the area.
-> UPS glitches, but very brief so far.
-> 40mph at Alaska Junction. Emmy reports 70, and a brief power drop. Not surprised.
* Taxes: finished opening mail. Found W2 and both 1099Rs. Think I have all or most of
the other 1099s.
* Went through various training/learning lists at $WORK, looking for interesting and
useful stuff to learn.
* Made caprese for dinner. G is making roast chicken, baked potatoes, and broccoli
Blame Colleen -- she's the one who put the tomatoes into the shopping cart.
: N. came down for dinner, and Colleen and I both got gifts. Fountain pens and ink;
stationary and a journal for C and Tom Lehrer Revisited for me. Coolness.

& Found compiz eating up 20% of my CPU on Trantor -- switched back to metacity as a
window manager, since it's a lot lighter. Turned off compositing and animation, too.
It's supposed to be a window manager, not a video game. Tempted to try xmonad.

* Dinner in Port Townsend, at Ichikawa Sushi Bar and Japanese restaurant. Quite a good
place. Not cheap, though. But excellent, and of course it's E's birthday (a week
early). They brought us free deserts - ginger ice cream pie and green tea ice cream.
