Today I am thankful for...

  • My therapist.
  • My family.
  • Scraping by.
  • Stock vesting.
  • Whisky Wednesday, and gin in the fridge.
  • Writing.
  • Xmonad, in part for giving me something to write about.
  • More generally, Linux.
  • The Demoscene, and the coworker who introduced me to it.

There needs to be a gesture in the common lexicon, like the thumbs up or the <3 made with hands, to indicate gratitude and appreciation. Because I need to do it right now. Your giving thanks primed me to feel thankful in general and thankful for you and your post in particular.

Well, THANK-YOU is u/Btx/f,v ...or, more generally comprehensibly,
• hand open, all fingers straight and together, parallel and pointing upward
• with the pads of the fingertips on or in front of the mouth or chin
• then bring the hand forward and downward, toward the person you're thanking, by partially straightening the elbow till the hand is horizontal or nearly so, palm facing upward and fingers pointing in the direction of the person you're thanking
• at which point the movement comes to a soft (non-abrupt) stop

I did my graduate work on ASL. Funny you should mention this now: I read it just after posting Cochlear implant manufacturers vs. the Deaf community.

Respectfully submitted,

That is interesting. I am a gin fan myself, and I like it cold too but I generally focus on the tonic, not the gin. I will have to try this out. Do you find that it brings out/slackens any of the flavours in the gin? I gather you have enough guff to drink it straight (I do not), have you ever tried Hendrick's gin? It is my standard and it is very tasty with floral hints.
