I'm not sure how I managed it, but I seem to have coped with this week noticably better than the week before. Whatever it is, I'd like some more, please.

High point of the week was last night's concert, the release party for Betsy Tinney's Wyverns in the Winery. Cello awesomeness. Guest sets by the Bohnhoffs, Vixy and Tony, and Betsy's new group, Menage a Trio.

High point for spending was Friday, when we paid for Colleen's new hearing aids. Ferociously expensive, but they make a huge difference for her. I also had my hearing tested; my cutoff has shifted down from about 6KHz to somewhere between 4 and 5, so I'm losing some consonants on the high end, but I'm getting by. Will get re-tested next year and see whether they'd be worthwhile for me.

I imagine there was more, but my brain appears to have turned to mush. G'night.

  & awake 3:15ish; some reading
  * Up 6:30; ;
  : cricket may be having problems;
  : 10ish - N to ER via paramedics; severe flu-like symptoms -> stomach flu
  " QOTD: me: Bronx, grabbing my ass means something entirely different--I don't think a
    kitten would be interested. "
  * noon:  ShelfGenie
  & pick N up at WhidbeyHealth in Coupville
  & collect g at school on the way home; not feeling well
  * change address for Alliance Credit Union - in order to maintain account I have to make
    a deposit within the next 30 days. The website asks for a PIN, but apparently that's
    just a ruse to force you to call them. & update url in h.home
  % sore throat; made myself a honey/ginger with throat coat. Want chocolate; don't have
  * F/W: determined that Colleen would rather have a grab bar than a towel bar under the
    window.  I _have_ a grab bar, so that's $18 I don't have to spend.
  * leave 4:45 with Cricket
  * 5:30 Cricket - Animal Hospital by the Sea. Directly across from Useless Bay Coffee
    Company. -> no fluid in abdomen. temp normal. Doing labwork. -> everything normal
  * -Tuesday-_Monday_: Tortellini, pesto
  % Somehow, I am holding up under the day's stress, unlike yesterday. Damned if I know,
    but I'll take it. I may be hitting the wall, though (9:20)

  # N has declared a day off. Both she and g are sick; j is enough ahead that we can
    manage it.
  * flu and shingles shots. (combine with trip to store for paper towels, chocolate, and
    whatever else). flu shot for j as well
  * pay AMEX
  * 3:30ish to Langley with j for Halloween T|T at the local stores plus party at The
    Island Church of Whidbey, 503 Cascade Ave, Langley, WA 98260. j's Rubik's Cube
    costume was a huge hit. The party was very noisy; j had a great time while I sat and
    read on my phone, basically overloaded and withdrawn.

  * up 8am; W=197.8;
  : call from OnStar; the tech team claims that the logs show correct info both coming
    from the car and going to the phone. But the rep didn't know what the logs actually
    *show*, so WTF? Asked for someone on the tech team to get in touch with me
  % When I left Amazon I thought I was done with having to lock my computer every time I
    left my desk.  But kittens.
  @ Fun with the spawn of Git and NoSQL attaca - git for huge datasets. WIP
  * 15min: update mm/books.git and point cygnus and nova's origins at it. Nova should
    probably be cloned with hardlinks, but...
  : my.chevrolet.com is showing KWh/100mi, and its reciprocal is in the right ballpark,
    but the value shown for lifetime KWh is totally bogus.
  * Walk: out to Skybird and back on Skyline. Moderately tired/sore by the end; probably
    should not have gone any father today. Mostly moving rather slowly.
    % mood did not improve. Intrusive, depressed thoughts.
  & call GM website team about current nonsense numbers on website. Got transferred to
    OnStar connection team, which is what I thought I was talking to in the first place.
    After ~ half an hour on the call, I'm getting escalated -> bounced. Transferred in
    error. IDIOTS! -> I *may* now have a number for tech support, though I doubt it.
      1. seems to be showing current range in the slot for total energy used.
      2. showing KWh/100mi instead of mi/KWh. The number looks right, though.
      3. not clear whether the total mileage is being updated; electric miles under
	 efficiency is correct.
      Technical team: 866-522-9559 9-6est
  * 5:15ish started dinner. Check chicken ~6:15. Twist of lemon in my gin, thanks to
    carrot-craisin salad. Mom's recipe, with lemon juice. Lovely carrots via g; lovely
    big juicy lemon from Payless. Fresh craisins. Lemon pepper and garlic salt on the
    chicken. Forgot to add wild rice to the rice :( Everyone liked it.
    -> turned out pretty well.
  % N says I'm coming across as "scary grumpy". My guess is depression. N says I need to
    talk to a doctor about my meds.

  * small bowl of granola for first breakfast
  * large (blue) bowl of fried rice for second breakfast, using up the last of last week's
    leftover rice
  * received garbage bill; verified that automatic payments are enabled
  * j: we're a week ahead on Math, so having him do some of the "advanced" lessons.
  : M out due to a family emergency. We coped pretty well, though I expect there were a
    few things C was planning to do that didn't happen.
  @ Amazon.com: Slide-A-Shelf -> Slide-A-Shelf
  : I don't remember re-starting my dropbox account, but I appear to have done so.

  : (builder) Mike talking to N about the work over and around the garage.
  * 15min: shoe bag (which arrived today) on front door
  * Thursday: Mac+Cheese, -salad-
  & spent some time rummaging around SAILDART
    and in particular [star,SRS] (login required). There are some demos, too.
    it is claimed that c5.jpg (624×480) is a picture of me. WTF?

  * filled out patient info for Connect Hearing; finally tracked down patient info forms
    for WhidbeyHealth (at the bottom of a stack, of course)
  : It was snowing lightly when we set out for our audiology appointments; clear by the
    time we were coming back.

      it won't put us over the 20% line. If it was 10%, ... Grumble.
  * 2:30 me Connect Hearing
    -> hearing aids probably wouldn't make much difference. Starts falling off (moderate
       loss) around 4kHz. There are a few consonants that I'd be missing.
  ~ Friday: -date night after appointments-_steak_ Cut steaks off the roast that we'd
    originally gotten for the fajitas. Still a lot left.
