So. A little late, but an interesting and fairly productive week. Not complaining, except to note that I forgot to write this post yesterday. Busy, maybe? Onward!
Last Sunday I went to the service at the local Unitarian church with G. Might be a good way to meet people; it seems like a good bunch.
Monday was my first appointment at the WhidbeyHealth Freeland Clinic. Not an exam, per se; just an intake interview, but I got referrals for many of my concerns. Labs came back normal except for the usual slightly low HDL. I am, apparently, doing a lot of things right.
Singing lessons! N found us a voice teacher who's willing to work with the two of us as a group, which is very cool. Fun.
I've been making good progress shelving CDs; there are probably still some tucked away in odd corners, but I think I've found all of the bankers' boxes, at least. It's going to overflow into the other tower; I had to buy a lazy-Susan bearing to fix it, and that still needs to be installed. There is actually getting to be some room in the garage.
We're going to have big crowds of people Tuesday (the kids' other family and cousins) and Wednesday (the YD, her SO, and his family). Shopping this week got expensive. Can't imagine how.
In the software world, I finished (modulo the inevitable bug fixes and improvements) my blog-posting "plugin" in MakeStuff. This will be the smoke test.
Also, down in the notes for Saturday you'll find a comparison of Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal; we'll probably use Wordpress for N's new business website, for ease-of-use. If it was me, I'd probably use Joomla; I ought to set that up, maybe on HyperSpace-Express.com, and give it a try.
1210Su * up 5am; W=200.8; * using the small leather dragon wallet, which also protects my credit cards so that stuff doesn't rub off in my pocket. Feels weird not to have my backpack. * church with G - good. Everyone wears a nametag, which helps a lot. & in talk with G on the way home we concluded that Wordpress is probably best for N's business website. * SL: egg noodles, shrimp, cottage cheese, (plain, greek) yogurt, English cucumber, -cilantro-, tuna (at least 4 cans), chuck roast, small potatoes, beer, 2 whole milk, cran-ras, craisins, 2 palmieres * Sunday: salad. shrimp louis * upgrade g's laptop -> managed to knock over a glass of milk. Barely had time to wipe it up (using 3 yellow towels) before having to leave to... & pick up kids at the 8pm ferry. 1211Mo & 3am C woke me out of deep sleep asking for water; never got back to sleep. Cuddle from both C and Ticia, which was nice but not what I needed. * up 4ish; W=199.2; % didn't wake N before I left, so she missed an appointment. Grump. -> the new convention is to wake her a 8 unless otherwise notified. Should make a similar arrangement with g for 6:30 * NO BREAKFAST - probable labwork. * leave by 8:40. 8:30 might be better * 9:15am Freeland Clinic (arrive 15-20min early) Nancy Lee Clark, PA-C <- hernia(s?), skin concerns, referral needed for ?opthalmologist, ?therapist. sleep apnea, arthritis, psych meds ok? -> genetic testing: BRCA UNC study -> labs, appointment for telepsych (MD) a week from Friday; referrals for sleep, therapist (LCSW), ultrasound for the right inguinal hernia. -> BP great - 105/80. No doubt because I hadn't had coffee. -> Ms. Clark says that I'm doing a lot of things right, especially in my selection of supplements and my non-use of stimulant decongestants. * M/C: MakeStuff/blogging/entry.make derived from Private/Journals/River/depend.make notes updated on how to do it. "git log pretty=email --reverse --full-index --binary" is the correct incantation. After that edit the paths and use git am. I used a scratch repo to keep the histories separate; ymmv. * Signed up for WhidbeyHealth patient portal $ sale $15 from V for a copy of CC&S : C is introducing V to filk. I'm hiding now, while CC&S is playing. * MakeStuff blog posting in River and Dog. Need some work. * 15min: got C's shelf standards up, and the top shelf. Needs cardboard or something to go over the wires - can get that from the garage tomorrow. * 15min: shortened C's rolling cabinet (transferring the top two drawer units to the two by the wall) and added another shelf. 1212Tu * up 6:30; ; @ Bijective numeration - Wikipedia (via Number System and Numeral System) From there the dive went into Punycode and Internationalized DNS * 8am wake N % all labs normal except for low HDL, which I am not surprised about. @ siderea | [Patreon] Paypal's Micropayments Rate $0.05+5% * 9am wake C * 11am Colleen Freeland Clinic @ holman/dotfiles: @holman does dotfiles CNG/dotfiles: My personal system configuration files & shopping on the way home. Apple fritters. N was in Payless at the same time so did more shopping than expected. & cleanup (leaving Payless) -- luckily T was here so she helped C while I worked in the car. % The thing that feeds my freakout feedback loop is the fact that I seem to become non-verbal during stress or extreme concentration. Having to communicate with another person increases the stress. * 15min: took hammocks out to garage from front deck. Some grepping around; found a bag of Colleen's pants and pads, but no massage sheet sets. * Tuesday: chicken curry, raita Cucumber Raita Recipe - Allrecipes.com - we'll see. Should have made it earlier. Used the mandoline, which worked despite the lack of a peeler. Just left peel on top Used Pathak's Kashmiri curry simmer sauce, which is vegan, hence kosher with chicken The raita came out better than I expected - very tasty. : septic system alarm going off; power-cycling it didn't help. repair last Jan. done by Gabelein Bros in Freeland - (360) 331-3160 -> use as little water as possible tonight; call back in the morning if it's still in alarm. Apparently indicates an overflow condition of some sort. % 8pm sleepy 1213We * up 5:45; W=200.2; : septic system alarm light still on. So probably needs fix; will recheck around 8am -> called Gabelein Bros. and got "call cannot be completed as dialed"; got "not in service" from their alternate. Blocked?? Weird, in any case. -> Called Bob's Septic; got quick response. Should be here before noon. -> called back; he doesn't work on aquaworx; -> referred to ?horton (under HJ?) but nobody by that name in the phone book -> however, we seem to be back in operation. x 8am wake N -> texted to cancel the wake-up. $ C $427 for two worldcon memberships ~ made hotel reservations for Conflikt; too late to get a room in the tower :P hopefully we can get an upgrade because accessible. conf# 32KGN4G6 * Started working on the stock transfer from Vanguard (401K) to Schwab (IRA) * Wednesday: noodle kugel, cornbread -> made by C and V * 5pm singing lessons for me and N. 2 hours. Email to Mom and N.) * Thursday: tuna salad sandwiches * game of Munchkin to play-test j's write-up of the instructions. Some glitches. : one of our good friends in California called C to say that she's in the burn ICU, but that it's not as bad as it sounds. C is extremely worried anyway; I'm concerned. There isn't much of anything I can say or do to be reassuring. 1215Fr & Awake 3:30ish; back down 4:30 but couldn't get to sleep. : Ticia wanted snuggle; not clear whether that helped or not, but it was very nice. Eventually she fell asleep on my left arm. & realized that I'd double-booked the afternoon; tried to reschedule imaging but it was after hours. Grumph. 8-5 -> no need : discovered that several remotes on raven were pointing at a repo in ~/vv rather than ~/git, the post-update hook uses Tools (patched with a symlink), and make-deployable is broken with a bad path for the hook). So, grumble. * 9ish see whether C wants to go to the garden -> no ~ 10:15 or so Japanese garden with j -> swimming. * 15min: M/C: debugging wssetup * 2:30 checkin diagnostic imaging - ultrasound. @ comment on ysabetwordsmith | Patreon Changes " Patreon's real problem is that they've completely lost the trust of both creators and patrons. This time next year there will be hundreds, if not thousands, of home-grown one-off creator-side solutions that will cost more per transaction because they can't aggregate, but will make a direct connection between patrons and creators. The adult market will switch to crypto-currencies. The typical minimum contribution will go up to $1.50 or so, but everything but the transfer fee will go to the creator. And Patreon will find itself with its long tail cut off. " % something feels off. Can't tell whether I haven't had enough to eat, not enough to drink (fixing that now), not enough sleep, heading into a sugar crash, headache, or coming down with the flu.
