Rough week mentally, though it did have a number of high points. Mostly very down on myself, and essentially no self-confidence left. I probably need to try looking for a therapist again. My left hand has been getting steadily worse, despite a thumb brace that keeps hitting the left mouse button. Ugh.

Meanwhile, progress continues on the revamped version of S.S.net; the new site is being constructed as a Github Pages site, at ssavitzky.github.io. Still undecided whether to move the site or try to get some version of Jekyll running on my web host. The Ruby there is old, and gojekyll is missing some features. Anyway, go take a look and tell me what you think.

And the household appears to have acquired a new cat. Or been acquired by -- he came up to N and m yesterday on the deck, and wanted to be picked up. He's obviously been somebody's pet, but the island is no place for a cat to be wandering around outside; he has no tag and no chip. We'll continue to look around for lost cat signs and ads for the next couple of weeks before deciding whether to adopt him formally.

For the moment we have him settled in the spare bedroom -- I'd been thinking of setting it up as a home office, so this will be a good test run for that concept. Getting him settled with the rest of the household cats will be another challenge.

    Managed to include today's notes, too.  no big deal.
  : Just looked at my.chevrolet.com -- they've totally revamped the site, and moved
    charging data to a separate page.  It's not particularly useful, and doesn't look very
    accurate either.
  * paired up my bluetooth mouse and the Acer BT keyboard.  The latter is useful because
    it does _not_ have buttons, but it has all the keys I need in a similar arrangement to
    my laptop.

    % tizanidine seems to be similar enough to cyclobenzaprine that it also should only be
      taken at night, and only if I have time for 8 hours of sleep.  Very effective,
      though.
  % the thumb was better for several hours after a night in the brace; there is a painful
    spot on mty left forearm that seems to have developed over the last 2-3 days.
  : unfortunately, battery life on the Acer keyboard is terrible.  (of course I was using
    rechargable batteries, which discharge pretty quickly even if they're not being used.
    But still... -> the real problem is that batteries on the charger don't get topped up,
    so they discharge.  (2 bars out of 4)

  * I seem to have mostly switched over to firefox, because it's the one that comes with
    lubuntu.  It's mostly okay.  (I did fire up Chrome on Cygnus for long enough to export
    my bookmarks and tabs; I didn't actually have to if all I'd wanted to do was import
    bookmarks and history.

    went back to bed briefly around 4 but couldn't sleep; got some Ticia cuddle ~5.
  * built and tested gojekyl (osteele/gojekyll: A fast clone of the Jekyll blogging engine, in Go) it works.
    That means that: 1. I can continue hosting S.S.net on DreamHost, because go produces
    self-contained binaries.  2. I can use osteele's liquid engine for expanding liquid
    templates in MakeStuff without dragging in all of Jekyll.
    It remains to be decided whether I _want_ to continue hosting on DH.
    A disadvantage of gojekyll is that it doesn't do syntax highlighting.  It can use
    Pygments (in python), but it's not clear that it supports the simpler GFM syntax or
    just jekyll's {%- highlight -%} tag -> it doesn't, and jekyll barfs on it.  It also
    doesn't sort posts that are on the same day, which kind of sucks.
  * T' suggested moving the old TV table from my bedroom to the living room next to my
    desk.  It's a little lower than the tray tables, but it's wider and has four shelves.
    I may want a raised mouse pad. -> a stack of file folders works for now.
  : N likes my new web page!  Even the cat pic, and especially the tag line (which I
    unconsciously lifted from her monster stuffy Maddox)  So it's a go)
  : somehow Chrome managed to make itself the default browser.  Grump.  So I had dozens of
    chrome tabs open, wrecking my performance.  Ugh.
  * did some work on the footers.

  * N and m were found by a cat on the deck.  Young tabby tom, obviously comfortable
    around people, very affectionate.  Not neutered.  Got him checked out at Animal
    Hospital by the Sea (in Langley; they're where we took Cricket that time).  in good
    shape; no fleas or ear mites; no chip No signs out for him yet; also checked Drew's
    List, Nextdoor, and f(S. Whidbey Pets).  Not how we'd planned to spend the day.
  : Thunderstorms.  There was a brief power outage (~20m) _before_ the cloudburst hit.
  * Music! Working on harmonies etc. on "October Country" and "Lord of the Buffalo"
  * the cat seems to have acquired (from N) the name "Corwin".  Presently in "his" room.
    Had some trouble wrangling him and Desti; I may have frightened the poor little guy.
    I intend to set up my office here, so he'll have some company.  (currently on Raven)
  : keeping Corwin in his room, and Desti out, is proving to be challenging.
