2019-08-11 01:05 pmSomewhere along the way I appear to have learned to tell the difference between being depressed and being sad. Thank you, Ame. Thank you, Curio. Sunday was low-key, but not depressing. Mellow?
Colleen spent from Monday through Thursday in the hospital. Apparently she caught the infection in time, and what's more it doesn't appear to have bee nearly as serious as the last few -- they discharged her with a prescription for oral Cipro.
Island Drug managed to misplace my CPAP supplies again. According to the woman in the pet store two or three doors down who I bought cat scratchers from yesterday, this is not unusual. (I just got a call from them saying that they've been found and will be hand-delivered this afternoon.)
Linux Journal Ceases Publication: An Awkward Goodbye -- awkward because they'd ceased publication before, then got rescued. Now it looks like they'll be gone for good. They'll be greatly missed. I spent much of Thursday writing a script to download their online back-issue archive.
Short post this week -- not much seems to have been going on.
0804Su % (TW: Ame) Amethyst Rose: 1990 % I'm doing okay # don't know whether I'll post anything else about her this year. * up 5ish; ; / C woke up complaining of being cold; wanted to go to the LR. -> closed windows, started fire, brewed tea * SL: pantsu, coffee, almonds * made guacamole, hoping to tempt C to eat at least something. / -> bad idea; she threw up. Gave her a banana ! worried. I've been worried about her for the last three days. % mentioned Ame in my weekly post; also on 7c. crosslinks frowned upon, so I won't. : There seem to be quite a few things missing from 7c. ! sad. Not depressed, just a little sad. Apparently there's a difference. % 5:30 sleepy. And maybe a little sadder than I thought at first. Or nostalgic. Or something. And completely failed at finding lyrics to "Dead Girl Polka". Which Ame was threatening to sing. Along with "Dear Departed". Because goth, apparently. / 8:50 C throwing up again, after being able to eat next to nothing all day. Worried. 0805Mo * up 3ish; S=3:11; / C very restless, confused. Sometimes looking for something but doesn't know what ! brief anxiety attack / called 911 because C didn't think she'd be able to get out to the car on the scooter Doesn't look like sepsis; her vitals were okay. But no urine to speak of. / dozing on and off. Hasn't been changed since she got here. x noon C OT Marcella - shower / not clear whether coming in to the ER was a mistake or not. She's cold, in pain, hungry, miserable, and not getting any attention. Presumably waiting on lab results. She'd have been a lot more comfortable at home. Should I have suggested staying? / V thinks this might be related to her panic attack Friday when I offered to take L to the hospital. Maybe? / 10:35 somebody is finally drawing blood for labs. Good grief! Or maybe it's just one test they didn't realize they needed? More likely. Maybe? 11:20 blood cultures, second IV. Potassium high, for once. / (0805)A 11:30 she's being admitted. IV antibiotics. Meropenem, this time. seen by Chris Wiese, the hospitalist who saw her back in April (and immediately went on a 2-week break). She looks too young to be a grandmother. -> Room 2205. We've probably been in that one before. -> yup. Back in April after she got out of intensive care. * headed home ~4pm * fixed half the snapper (i.e. one package) for dinner. Nobody else wanted any. Maybe a little more than I should have had, but tasty @ The Best Scotch Under $100. * returned call from YD, who wanted to know C's status. She's changing her badge name from "Neko-chan" to "Mama Neko". Good for her! * leave 8:20 to pick up j from 8:30 ferry (dropped off by G) 0806Tu * up 6:40ish; S=6:33; shower * 0806Tu litter boxen (L') * cancel C's PT appointment (or -> verify that it's cancelled) * cancel C's eye appointment tomorrow. x C Amy PT * 10:30 visit C. Leave ~1:30 to connect with L' * 2pm L' * put autolj in ~starport/Admin. Not clear what the _right_ place is, but the analogy with Admin/backup made it at least plausible. Moved to Mathilda because of the article-reading scripts, the config file, and the fact that it wants to run as me. * Did several mondly daily lessons, and one of the weekly tests. So far I'm getting by pretty much on stuff I remember. I don't think the way it's organized works well for me, but I'll keep at it for a while more. * Some work on my 7c therapy chat. went over quite a few old LJ posts -- there are large gaps both in the record and in my memory. -> I ought to write a memoir to help keep all that straight. 2007/01/08_1921 GaFilk; room filk in mnemex and N's room. 2007/10/28_1852 OVFF swapping songs with N in the hallway <- there needs to be something about what was going on with me, N, X, et. al. and my care and feeding of geeks series <- goals(?) making decisions: identifying the emotional component if any. Coping: avoiding overload/meltdown. There was something else; can't remember it. ~ C wants the charger in pink electronics case. In one of the bags? I have 60 days to use it; Monday's appointment will do it / V came by after seeing C; C wants her cyclobenzaprine because she's confused about the pain med they were offering to give her. Good grief! -> Worried about confusion -> it's ativan, so I can see why she was confused about it. * 1:15 leave for vision appointment * bring guitar when visiting C -- go up after vision appointment. * 1:45, x 2:30 Vision appointments ~ Let C go first so I can pick out frames. -> didn't have time to get glasses. Hers doesn't fit in the basket anymore. Lots of hassle; gave her an extra cipro because she couldn't remember if she'd taken it this morning. Took out the evening one to compensate I'd apparently been using one of the split-lidded plastic bins, but it's elsewhere * Done with C's meds -- took about 2 hours. * transfer her unused ones to closet & jury-rigged a copy holder from desk lamp parts and a binder clip * did some hacking in show-temp, using variable substitution to cut resource utilization * finally found a place on 7c to ask about links. -> no. All my pages contain PII of some sort. So no more poetry, etc. % it's ok; I'll just spend less time there % 7:45 sleepy 0810Sa * up 5:05ish; S=5:57, W=199.6; * 9am home health (Marisol) nurse for C ? was she taken off potassium? Check discharge paperwork -> no potassium, spironolactone down from 3 to 2. Date: 2019-08-12 03:05 pm (UTC)7c = 7cups.com, formerly 7cupsOfTea -- online therapy and peer counseling. I started there mainly for therapy, but it's hard not to get sucked in to the support forums as well. Not clear that it's worthwhile.
