Done Since 2019-10-06
2019-10-13 04:37 pmNot too bad of a week, with a few rough spots in the middle. C had some good days, but nights ranged from okay to terrible (as measured by how many times I had to get up to help, and how much back pain resulted from it). I am, however, getting better -- no meltdowns or anxiety attacks this week. Back problems, but so far nothing that can't be handled with heat and naproxen.
N came up for the weekend last week, and we had a couple of good practice sessions. She thought I sounded a little out of breath, so in addition to scheduling an overdue doctor's appointment, I've restarted my voice lessons. Which will mean that I'll at least get some singing in every week. I really need to practice more often, though.
And walk more, of course.
We aren't done resetting the kitchen after last week's visit from the exterminators, but we're getting there. My desk isn't completely back together either -- I rotated it 90 degrees, and the wiring is still something of a rat's nest. We also had the septic tank pumped -- it was overdue and needed it badly. And somebody is coming later this week to fix the icemaker, which has been broken for several weeks. This place is almost as decrepit as I am.
I acquired a "new" router -- another Netgear WNDR4300. I had to fight with it to get DD-WRT installed on it -- apparently you need an older build for the initial flashing, and unbricking it requires going back to the factory software. Blarg. The main motivation was to see if I was right in remembering that my laser printer (Samsung, no WiFi) worked better with a DD-WRT-based router. Remains to be seen.

% based on my singing, N is concerned about my health. I sounded out of breath. Need
to make appointments with Nancy, Dr. Rochier.
% wouldn't surprise me if it's my permanent congestion and the associated coughing
% N pretty much read me the riot act about self-care. Too many people depend on me.
* don't let N go without taking her mail
* song updates. In some cases need to make the correct key the default

of course; can probably leave it off until V gets here.

extended ljpost to format using a template, but it's a start

& order a box of wipes; change schedule to 1/month
* 11am Thel (Home Health)
% I'm not feeling too bad right now, but less than okay. Three cleanups and a power
outage last night, one this morning, and an hour or so arguing with the home health
nurse. I think I've handled the last 24 hours pretty well -- no meltdowns, no bad
interactions with C at all, and no back pain I couldn't handle with naproxen, a
heating pad, and sleep (in that order). (from 7c)
* 15min: desk significantly more stable after installing an angle bracket at the end of
the window-sill. Still a trifle shaky on the opposite end.
* call to schedule septic tank pumping -> will call back -> I think he wanted _me_ to
call back. Crap. -> ETA: he called me next am.

& awake ~3-4; cleanup. Very little cleaning required,
% but changing her dressing was bad for my back
-> took a naproxen and sat in the recliner with the heating pad on and the lights
out. That probably made it easier to get back to sleep. Which I did.
* up 8am; S=7:35
: N goes to NY
: can't find my goddam reading glasses. WTF?
/ 1pm C Whidbey Vision Care.
: problem with the bag's pinch-valve, which is poorly designed.
-> what my glasses were doing next to my CPAP gods only know, but that's where I found
them. Probably took them off and put them on the wrong shelf while mostly asleep.
* made dinner: pot stickers and fried rice. Rice made fresh, so there will be leftover
/ C has been out of the hospital for exactly 1 month. (She keeps saying 6 weeks. Nope)
1011Fr
* Up 6am; W=185, S=5:48;
% do I need to be concerned about my weight loss? I'll keep an eye on it.
Stress eating wouldn't surprise me. Or sodium level.
: the "o" key on my USB thinkpad keyboard seems to be dying. Or maybe just needs
cleaning -- I'll try that. -> yup. Appears to have worked.
* C needs to call to get time and date of doctor appointment this week
* ordered dressings and Cavilon barrier spray from $A
* order shelf hanger and standards for LR (extend existing)
* 1pm home health (Thel) for wound care
-> good!! lesson on how to change her wound dressing. Wonder whether someone had a
talk with her. Or maybe she just thought through the problems we had last visit.
Not complaining in any case. Mostly about being super-paranoid about
contamination, but the bit about how to un-wrinkle the adhesive part of the
dressing (by pulling on a corner while smoothing down) was invaluable.
-> C said that she called Carla after the last visit
* 3:30 turn pork roast if L not home by then
* pay water bill
* practice: Stars and the Moon, I'll Go no More A-Roving. Stars... in particular is one
where I can't do my usual thing of picking the melody, and the chords are strange
(i.e. not anything like what I would have thought of).

That, or I read the scale wrong. :P
* mondly: caught up on daily, weekly, and monthly. Need to get back to categories.

might have been a good idea, but it looked safe)
