Done Since 2019-10-20
2019-10-27 01:11 pm It's been a busy exhausting week, but things seem to
be going more-or-less okay now. Colleen has her new glasses, the sore on
her butt is finally healed, the cut on her leg is being treated, the
household network has survived some upgrade attempts, "Ship of Stone"
finally won a Pegasus(!) and best of all my nibling, m, is home. I'm
not complaining. (Except about ongoing router problems, chronic lack of
sleep, and C's Crohn's disease. There's a connection between the last
two.)
The network problems are frustrating; there still doesn't appear to be a good way to put the laser printer, which wants to connect via Ethernet, on the WiFi network -- I've tried several different ways to bridge it, and it mostly works, but it can't handle long print jobs. Bletch. Obviously the printer's buffer is filling up, but isn't TCP/IP supposed to be able to take care of that? Grumble.
Feeling good is unfamiliar -- I keep thinking I'm probably doing it wrong.
1020Su
* Up 6:30; W=199.6;
* reboot wap2 (-annex) if it hasn't reconnected
-> still not connecting. WTF? -> about half a day of not connecting while trying
various permutations.
-> works fine with the _non-upgraded_ box it was connected to before. :P
~ upgrade DD-WRT routers (gw, wap3) -- they're out of date (build 27745; wap1 is 40559)
simplest: swap wap3 and wap1, upgrade wap3.
-> Upgrading wap3 (or possibly just changing hardware) causes trouble with the WiFi
link to wap2. Reverting.
? whether to try upgrading gw -- and to what -- remains an open question. risky?
/ 10pm. dressing changes hopefully that's good for the night; probably not.
I don't like the look of the wound on her leg. Stitches tore out?
1021Mo
* up 6:30ish; S=5:40;
/ home health nurse coming out to look at leg
* SL: dressings, non-stick pads, distilled water
/ 3pm C going in to ER -- earliest appointment she could get was tomorrow, and that's
probably what they're going to say anyway.
-> can't get into V's car, so I'll take that to Nancy's
-> Thel called to say that she can't handle infections - ER right choice
-> 4:30 infected: they took the stiches out; has to be washed daily with soap & water
-> also has UTI; she'll get a prescription for that, and something for pain.
* plane tickets and shuttle reservations for Mom's party 12/14
fly out Friday the 13th, back the 15th Expedia itinerary number: 7486944458446
* 6pm singing lesson with N'

and breathing.

* 11am Thel -> 11:30
/ Got a call to say C's glasses are ready. lunch at Charmer's afterward
* call Island Drug to check on CPAP supplies - -2-_4_ calls so far.
-> she'll work on it and have it ready tomorrow afternoon. Right.
-> there's a new system; appears to be separate from phone app.
x consider re-booking on SW -> I don't have the spoons. So now I worry.
/ 6:15 C throwing up. between the antibiotics and the opiate that's not unexpected.
/ dressing changes; new statlock. Neither dressing is going to hold past morning
1023We Mole Day (6:02 10/23)
* up 7am; W=197.4, S=6:24;
* morning: follow-up visit from Surety Pest Control
-> they'll come back next week to treat the kitchen. Clear off the counters.
-> keep produce in sealed containers, not the baskets == remove food sources
* 2pm Dr. Rochier - annual wellness visit - need new POLST. alarm set for 1:30
~ 3pm drive up to Oak Harbor for CPAP supplies -> the 3-month items aren't available
until the 27th. :P Supposedly they will be hand-delivered Tuesday (the 28th). I'll
also be getting email, which however I will have to respond to immediately. Four
questions: yes, yes, no, no (we'll see what they are later I guess). Tricia. Why
this didn't get arranged the last two times I sent emil, who knows.
% kind of brain-fried. Not sure why; unlikely to _just_ be the drive to Oak Harbor
But that's undoubtedly part of it.
: haven't gotten the confirmation email, but found this from a year ago:

* much thrashing around trying to get L's windows 10 box working with lp. Switching to
the netgear router seems to have at least made it accessible. Works for me, anyway.
/ 1am major cleanup, dressing change on butt. Did a half-assed job (pun intended)
! brief thing that felt a lot like an anxiety attack physically, but pretty sure it was
anger this time. Not fun. I hope I can keep that under control.
& meloxicam, heat. it's 1:45; will go back to bed at 2
/ 4:40 moby cleanup. May try to go back to bed 5:15 -> 5:45; it's 5 now.

% 2 mugs appears to be just about the right amount of caffeine. Alert but not shaky.
Or as alert as I can be on 5 hours of broken sleep.
: windy. no storm warnings, though.
& disconnected the little GL router -- the Netgear seems to work better with the laser
printer. Damned if I know what's going on. And I still haven't tried anything long,
which was the main problem (although L was having trouble with it too; that was also
fixed by the switch).
/ 12:30 (home health)Orlanda -> the sore on her butt is healed -- no longer needs
anything but barrier cream.

otherwise after adding salt and pepper
: some printing for S; it's clear that the netgear bridge has same problem as the GL.
There is some protocol that's not getting through, having to do with buffer overrun
! Ship of Stone won a Pegasus (choral arrangement by Carole Parker).
So did Lucy on the Line (performed by Jen Midkiff, who first heard it at RainbowCon).

could just need food; hard to tell. "Need food" and "want to eat" feel very different
* Sang "Ship of Stone" in the LR. Kind of had to.
& made dinner -- L and S had just gotten back from shopping and were wiped out.
baked chicken thighs and (from freezer bag)waffle-cut sweet potato "fries"
