I'm having trouble summarizing this last week; probably because I wasn't paying much attention. Or not doing much. Actually, a little more reading and singing than usual, the first because I've finally begun sorting through boxes of books in the garage, and the second because it's getting closer to Consonance. Still, a week without major disasters has to count for something.

The week's main (re)reading was the last parts of Morgoth's Ring (roughly the early versions of the first part of The Silmarillion), and Asimov's The End of Eternity. which I had been thinking about on and off for quite a while. It's also the source of the upwhen/downwhen terminology I occasionally use here. (Somewhat confusingly, time on the river flows in the opposite direction, from upstream to downstream rather than from downwhen to upwhen. Sorry about that.)

I also wrote a little script to check a file of passwords for leakage using the "range" API at HIBP. My password file contains lots of false positives, since it also includes things like PINs. There are a few genuine hits, but none of those are on sites that would cause any trouble if they were hacked. I appear to be reasonably safe otherwise.

My back is still giving me trouble, but not enough to worry about; I still have a supply of meloxicam, and I'm starting PT on Wednesday.
