I'm 73 years old today. In the middle of a pandemic that disproportionally kills older people, in a country with a totally broken public health system.
We'd been planning a family birthday party for this weekend; if it happens at all it'll be via Zoom or Hangouts.
Doom destruction and despair People dying everywhere Happy birthday! Happy birthday! -- sing two verses while washing your hands
Going to stop here before I make myself more depressed.

Date: 2020-03-14 04:15 am (UTC)Funny story about the quoted song. At one point over a year ago, the local ham radio club was having its usual monthly meeting. You'd think a Tuesday night in a facility with the name Space Place would be a fairly nerdly and unusual domain, and you'd be right. Midway through our meeting, we suddenly heard a chorus of children's voices from the nearest adjacent room, all shouting more than singing that song, and with gusto! Two repetitions in, we were a crowd of very bemused radio ops. I forget which of our chuckling number shut the door... XD
