More proof, not that any is needed, that things can always be worse. So... Mom died Monday morning. Here's her obituary, posted Friday on the funeral home's website. I haven't made a household memorial web page yet; maybe this week.

On the up side, Colleen appears to have gotten her fiber dosage to the right level for stopping her diarrhea. Maybe. It's been about two weeks now.

On the gripping hand, we have headlines like these: Fratelli tutti (3 October 2020) | Pope Francis (it would be nice if...), How Hatred Came To Dominate American Politics | FiveThirtyEight ("There are two possible ways this ends. The first is the one we all fear — the unwinding of our democracy, because one or both sides hate each other so much that they are willing to support anti-democratic and authoritarian leadership in order to maintain power. [...] The other scenario is a major realignment and/or a collapse of one (or both) of the two major parties..."), The Republican and Democratic Parties Are Heading for Collapse (one can only hope), and Volunteer lawyers will advise military personnel who question the legality of orders during protests, election disputes - The Washington Post (one can hope not, but I'm pessimistic).

I believe that the two-party system doesn't work; multi-party systems like they have in many other countries seem to be fairer, although they're more complicated to administer.

My condolences, I know what you're going through. hugs

I have a Logitech wireless keyboard (not currently being used), I should check and get the receiver updated, that way I can sell it with a clear conscience.

Here in the UK we have multi-party politics, but the two largest parties (Conservative, Labour) and most of the media still treat it as if it's a two-party system. Labour had their wake-up call last year, and I suspect the Conservatives are going to get theirs a lot sooner than they'd hope, thanks to their mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nice article on the 'rona. Really cool that they managed to concentrate the virus down and freeze the little fsckers so they could actually *look* at them...

Also, I didn't read too far in, but dang, is the ArchPatriarch actually advocating almost a bit of universalism?
