flower_cat's CPU swapped -- the new system's been sitting around (getting occasional use as a backup machine) for most of a year waiting for a good excuse. It's only slightly faster, but it has a much better video card (Voodoo Banshee), more memory, and more disk. The video card (and more recent drivers, presumably) were the critical item for the new LCD monitor. The old machine didn't make it happy at all.

apt-get. And I get to figure out what to do with her old system (besides running Linux on it, of course). It has the SB Live soundcard, with a front-panel MIDI interface, so something musical seems suggested.
