IBM dumps the WinTel PC line, leaving them free to concentrate on Linux-based servers and workstations.  Expect laptop and palmtop "workstations" soon.

Palm announces that Palm OS will be running "on top of" Linux, as a software layer.  Palm mobile devices will be running the Linux kernel down in their guts, and will be able to run Linux apps.

I expect the computing field to look very different this time next year.

I expect it to be a lovely field, with wildflowers and clover. Well, an improved field anyway. Thanks for the info.
