Well, the cats have been with me in Seattle since last Sunday. A full week. They seem to have settled in pretty well. I'm shifting my days to be on Whidbey from the weekend to Monday and Tuesday, to give more time to practice for Orycon with N. It's not all that convenient, but they seem to be safe and contented, and that's what's important.

Safe only because I figured out how to bodge together a cat-lock using book-cases and a sliding cardboard gate. The gate being opaque seems important because they would probably try to jump over it if they could see what was on the other side.

It's been an unexpectedly expensive month. We took the three cats from the main house -- Bronx, Brooklyn, and Cricket -- to a long-delayed vet appointment on Wednesday. And I had a dentist visit Thursday, which is also going to be expensive after replacing the three crowns and two fillings that need it. Ticia and Desti are also scheduled for a vet visit, but that's next month.

We've been rehearsing for a concert slot at Or-E-con2, first weekend in November. I seem to be a lot rustier than I expected to be. And along with guitar practice I've also been neglecting yard-work and moving prep on Whidbey. So the rest of the year is going to be rather busy. And after a year of doing nothing, and four more years doing nothing besides caring for Colleen, I'm defintely out of practice.

I should probably get some food soon.

I got my winter flu vaccination on Saturday, I was hoping to get a Covid-19 booster shot too but it turned out I need to wait a few more weeks, they've booked me an appointment for the beginning of October.

In other news, I sold my first batch of old books last week, one step closer to decluttering my room. The water leakage in the loft has now dried out sufficiently that all the lights work except one. And the back bedroom got repainted at the weekend, so my mum could move back in yesterday and sleep better. Things are gradually getting back to relative normal here. I've avoided watching or reading about the Queen and will be glad when today is over.
