We went to J and S's party yesterday afternoon/evening. Brought my guitar just in case, but didn't take it out of the car. Just as well, as my voice still hasn't really recovered. We came home a little earlier than usual, about 10:00, because neither of us has been sleeping all that well, and it would be better to fall sleep at home than on the road. Came home to find [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat's Dickens dress finished, and the neighbor/friend who had done the sewing in the midst of washing dishes. Oops.

(One may well ask, "Why was M doing the dishes for us?" Well, aside from being an all-around wonderful person whose daughters have been going to school with ours for a long time now, she was figuring on trading the housework for guitar lessons. I believe the sewing is in trade for some emergency childcare, but didn't inquire too closely.)

Went to the Dickens Faire today, after an unsuccessful attempt to clear the kitchen sink's drain. It opened at 11, and we stayed until about 5:00 because Mayhem ([livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf's GF) was in a performance at 4:00. The wolfling bought a very nice black fedora, and I bought [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat a green bonnet. Didn't get anything for myself, having bought myself a guitar the previous morning. Came home, changed out of Faire garb, called my Mom, and collected the Younger Daughter for a sushi run (which we owed her on account of her grades).

Did a little practicing (have to get used to the new guitar, after all) and managed to croak out two songs before deciding my voice still isn't all the way back. The new guitar seems to want me to call her "Ruby", that being the official name of her color. OK. I mostly wait for things to tell me their names, and often they never do.
