I can't figure out whether this was a particularly bad week, or not. I'm just kind of drifting. Some of that, probably, is general hopelessness about the US's political situation, whether I can get the Whidbey Island house ready to sell, and whether I can find something I can do that will generate some income. (The reasons for needing extra income are somewhat complex; I have enough for now.) I haven't been sleeping well the last few weeks; not entirely clear which is the cause and which the effect.

Part of sleeping badly seems to include waking up at 2 or 3am to find myself sitting up with a computer in my lap and without my CPAP mask.

I need to trim my to-do list. Lists, because I keep moving stuff out into specialized sublists, which doesn't really help. N suggested making a short list and picking two or three to do each day. You can find a summary of the current files under Sunday, in boldface. (It's somewhat inaccurate because it's counting scheduled items and sublists; the actual total is closer to 312 items.) But I haven't made a full pass over them in months. And that's not counting project-specific lists. I need to make a sweep for those. (Ok, did that. 45 total files with the .do extension, but only 36 of those contain to-do items.)

I'm probably boring you with statistics. Sorry about that. Linux geeks may be interested in the command lines, under Sunday.

Top links: some extremely (and delightfully) NSFW alphabets (links under Tuesday), and a green comet last seen by the Neandertals some 50,000 years ago (more links under Saturday).

    : had both cats purring next to me, but couldn't reach anything to record with.

  : Apparently I missed champaigne last night. The bottle was sitting on the kitchen

  % a bit of a blood sugar crash around 1pm. Lunch (fried rice) is helping, but slowly
  % some nice interaction with m and k around lunchtime
  & count to-do items: (the following could be simplified to use *.do)
    echo $(for f in to colleen eol mom must rest-stop wibnif; do \
           echo -n `grep '  o ' $f.do | wc -l` "$f; "; done) | head -c -2; echo
    -> 32 colleen; 8 eol; 6 mom; 66 must; 10 rest-stop; 152 to; 95 wibnif
  & rename notes.do -> notes.done, which keeps it out of `*.do` lists (see above)
    grep '  o ' *.do | wc -> 369
  : N recommended making a *short* list, and picking 2-3 items to do each day.
    Would work for small items, anyway.
