Done Since 2023-06-25
2023-07-02 02:26 pmNot a great week. Between hearing aids still not fitting, and what appears to be an infected cornea that I initially took for an ordinary "something in my eye", I have not been comfortable. Not to mention the Supreme Court, dangerous weather, and other disasters. The eye infection is the most immediately worrying, especially since it's hard enough finding an opthalmologist on a weekend, let along a holiday weekend.
I did get some singing in yesterday, swapping songs with Cathy and Jason (the folks buying the house). And ran into emotional landmines all over the place. (The songs were Where the Heart Is, Windward, and Lock Keeper. Only minor problems with Bigger on the Inside and Lock Keeper.) I don't think I can blame the tears on my eye infection. I need to practice more.
There's plenty of bad news in the links, so to compensate... Ethernet is 50 years old. Squids can fly. Animals don't get product reviews, but if they did...

Date: 2023-07-03 03:09 pm (UTC)My week was mostly Second Life's 20th birthday and the 13th birthday of Gorean Whip Radio (where I broadcast and do advert production.) That distracted me from most of the stuff going on in meatspace.
I'm bracing for more price rises here in Britain. We're fortunately in having fairly low outgoings, for now, but as that article you linked to notes, it's just get worse and worse unless something radically changes. Getting the Tories out of office would be a start, but the brain-worms have infested too many, too deeply for that to be more than a starting point. Sigh.
I started today by doing an OS reinstall and data migration to a new SSD, as the one I've been using for my system disk looks to be near the end of its working life. That should tide me over for several more years while I consider what will eventually replace my 2017 iMac. Coincidentally, that drops off the supported system list for the next version of macOS, so that's a few more years of limited support from Apple then however many it takes for third-party developers to stop support. I might install Linux on it if it's still running at that point. Oh, and I found that Advanced Data Protection prevents you from signing into iCloud on a new installation, so it's unclear how or who that's actually protecting.
