Very, very mixed week. My treatment is going well (so far, after 8 treaments -- I expect the side effects to start showing up next week), and I've started to meet some of the regulars. But I've also been clumsier than usual, very stiff especially in the mornings, feeling vaguely out-of-it, and I left my house keys somewhere Friday. WTF? (I've been keeping them in my coat pocket with my car key and my wallet, both of which I still have, fortunately, but like I said WTF?)

Somewhat related, I've been making very slow progress on my taxes, not getting enough exercise, and doing next to no music. On the whole I have not been feeling good about myself.

Happy National Beer Day. I really ought to make separate posts for things like International Transgender Day of Visibility and International Asexuality Day, because by the time anyone sees them in a "Done Since" post it will be too late to actually do something about them.

And by the way there's a total solar eclipse tomorrow, and if you aren't in a good location and don't have travel plans made, it's too late to do anything about that either. (As for me, see above about radiation treatments. Cancer sucks.)

I'm glad to hear that your treatments are going well.
I expect the side effects to start showing up next week

and
feeling vaguely out-of-it

Could it be that the side effects are already starting to show?

Trains - sounds like a theme, between songs, the Going Sideways posts, and a deep dive.

Barbara and I have started taking BART for excursions into San Francisco. Driving and parking down town totally suck, while driving up I 280 to the Daly City BART station is fast and easy, and the train schedule between there and any SF stop is surprisingly good.

BART has four lines. All four of them run through SF and Daly City. Each runs on a 20 minute schedule; with all four running you get a train roughly every five minutes, and it actually runs pretty close to this in practice. So long as you're not going beyond SF or Daly City you can just get on whatever train comes, without worrying about which line it is. And the senior discount fair is all of $1.40.

(Later in the evening they cut back to two lines, so a ten minute spacing, although that sometimes gets thrown off. But it's still workable.)

I was stuck on a business trip that sent me further away from totality than I'd have been at home. And then had me busy at peak eclipse for where I was. I got a look at about a 30% partial. (For the record I did better in 2017 even though I had to travel to a meeting hosted BY THE SAME ORG...despite it being overcast the place I was got around 85% and I could see the effect of less sunlight.)

Guess I'll either have to live another 20 years or figure out how to get to Spain or Australia in 2028.
