Thankful Thursday
2024-10-10 09:08 pmToday I am grateful for...
- Arriving in Den Haag in one piece. (With way too much luggage.) NO thanks for the many bad decisions I made about what to take vs have shipped.
- Having at least remembering to pack a small collapsable, dual-voltage kettle and some coffeemaking supplies.
- Thanks in advance for all the furniture and related items that will arrive between now and next week..
- N, without whose organizational abilities I'd have been totally lost months ago.
- The utilities that will continue to be working for the rest of the month, including the internet connection. And for having had ethernet put into much of the house, because two things they didn't leave was the WiFi or router passwords. NO thanks for having left us with a microwave oven with a display-based menu UI in some random language with Cyrillic characters and no obvious way to change.

Date: 2024-10-10 11:42 pm (UTC)Regarding the unknown Cyrillic language menus on the microwave, Google Lens Translate on your phone will probably let you navigate them. I used it a bit on random signs on our trip to NL this past summer, and it's pretty amazing. iPhones have something equivalent, I believe.

Date: 2024-10-11 10:32 am (UTC)Thanks. I haven't used Lens much, but that sounds promising. Also I found a fairly detailed user manual online (the paper one here is installation/quickstart and multi-lingual). Knowing which order things appear in the menus I can probably find the settings.

Date: 2024-10-12 01:50 pm (UTC)In the end, I downloaded the real user's guide -- about as long as the multi-lingual quick start, but all in English, That gave me enough information, including icons, to navigate to the settings and pick the language. The previous owners were Hungarian, BTW.
