(almost typed "upgrade" up there in the title -- can you tell I've been using Debian too long?)

The Cat just got back from her post-surgery clinic visit -- everything is looking good, and she should walk more. The swelling from her fall is looking OK, and doesn't need to be worried about. No heavy lifting for another two weeks. She made her own lunch (frozen dinner, but still...).

Need to get back to work -- my schedule is something of a mess today.

Heh. Don't forget: Debian Sarge *was released* this morning :-)

Just upgraded the [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf to a permanent account as an early b'day present (it's exactly a month to her birthday, so it's appropriate).

So what're you going to do with 100 userpics, Wolfie?

Because [livejournal.com profile] cflute asked...

Five things I do when alone that thoroughly relax me, and five people who I'd like to see answers in a similar vein from:

Relaxing things:
  1. Take a walk. Best if it's someplace with running water; the Los Gatos Creek trail intersects Leigh Avenue, where I live, a mile or two from my house. At work, I can walk to a little park with a koi pond.
  2. Play guitar. Usually if I'm by myself I just noodle; half an hour or soo of strung-together bits of folksongs and blues.
  3. Read. Exactly what I read varies considerably; these days it's mostly LJ and an assortment of websites, or Science magazine. Sometimes SF or a good mystery. For a "comfort book", usually either Tolkien or Cordwainer Smith; sometimes Andre Norton or James H. Schmitz. Yeats if I'm feeling lonely and depressed.
  4. Oddly enough, sometimes some totally mindless bit of housework, like laundry or dishes or pulling weeds. It's not that my mind wanders, more like a form of Zen meditation.
  5. A nice hot bath, just before going to bed.

Don't think I'll tag anyone specific; feel free to join the chain letter if you're interested.
