Weekend in review

Not much got done, though I did manage to find the time Sunday afternoon to do some yard work. Barely noticable; I'll eventually have to throw money at it. Maybe the kids would like to earn a little extra spending money...

Went out for a nice drive Saturday afternoon with the flower_cat; over Highway 9 to the coast, up 1 from Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay (with a stop at a produce stand for corn and peas), and back via 92 and i280. It's good to spend a little time together with nothing to do but chat and enjoy the scenery. After that we went out for sushi in honor of the chaoswolf's grades. Skipped C.P.'s party; neither of us felt up to it, and since there was going to be filking and I can't sing without wrecking my throat even more, it would have been more frustrating than fun.

Managed to get in some walking; about 45 minutes on Saturday morning, and my usual hour or so on Sunday. Woke up this morning feeling much better, but still with a noticable cold.

Didn't get nearly as far with the system administration tasks as I wanted to; upgrading the gateway machine is complicated by not wanting to take the internet connection (along with mail, news, and DNS) down while I do it.

The next "thud" you hear...

... will be the Mandelbear falling asleep. (Actually, it's too early, but...) Got really sleepy this afternoon, and decided more-or-less by default that nodding off while catching up on my stack of unread magazines was better than endangering either my 20" monitor, my beloved IBM model M keyboard, or my code base. I may be able to walk for an hour at lunchtime, but I'm definitely not over this cold.
